+ 16 for me and my colleagues. The only time I'd find this audio mixer appealing is if I was working on an 8k projector image the size of Wembley stadium. It's also harder to work quickly as the level sliders are so spread out. FCP editor here and I assure you that this mixer is nothing like FCP's and will not be appealing to editors jumping ship. FCP editors do not regularly require a mixer as all levels are quickly adjusted in the timeline...perhaps another thing to look into. Please offer us a legacy audio mixer option in the next version.
+1 for a smaller mixer. I work on different systems very often and on every setup (2*24, single 30, 24+27), it's wasting space. I like the individual meters on tracks. They could be optional, tho.
The current mixer for me is not a problem on twin 1920x1200 monitors. Certainly would be problematic on a laptop. An option for Classic vs Advanced would solve the request, yet the more complex the software becomes the more chance for bugs to appear.
Using MC 23.12. Win 22H2 Avid FX6.4, Vegas Pro 20/ DVD Architect 6pro, DVDit6.4proHD, CCE Basic, TmpGe Express4, TmpGe Authoring Works 4, DVDLab-Studio. Sony EX-1R, Canon XH-A1, GL2, GL1, Canon EOS 60D
No offense, the new UI for the mixer is poorly designed. The old one was just old, so that's fine. But the new one is new, and that's not fine. Toggling number of audio tracks is nice, but what's with the empty space at the bottom/right when you make the window big?
+1 for a properly designed mixer that stretches to fill up the size of the window.
By accident i opened my MC5.5.3 project with my MediaComposer 6 UserSetting. As a result the Audio Mixer window opened the size its used to be in MC6. Deeply interesting comparing both Workspaces.

May I ask, how can I find out if avid is considering this feature request?

You can't find out. Avid decides what it's priorities are.
All we can do is express our views and hope we see some of the long standing UI issues addressed.

Design me a tool that has less repetition, less wasted space. Do I really need 16 copies of a twin columns of double dB #s shown in a font so tiny?
So here's one idea from the "easy for you to say" department: What if raising a level temporarily displayed a horizontal line that streched across the entire Mixer UI, I would then easily see where it crosses a single pair of dB#'s, on either side of the Mixer UI, in a much larger font.
Consider how much narrower the Mixer would become after getting rid of those extra columns of tiny numbers. I for one don't feel the need for such precision in the Mixer. So with the total understanding that there are no doubt many considerations involved in the current design, I wish the team responsible would reconsider legibility, simplicity and most of all-- customization options to meet the needs of various editors... the space-savers as well as the twin-widescreen crowd.

+1 on matchframing medias with alpha
+1 optional seperte meters (not for myself but I know many editors don't like this...)
I think the interface of version 6 is very nice.
did anyone of you guys see the new media composer 7 at NAB? how does the mixer look like?
You now have the ability to enable/disable various functions of the mixer, thereby controlling it's size on the screen.
That's great news that MC7 has fixed the problem, but i'm working on MC6 and the mixer is really slowing my work down.
Forgetting the fact that there needs to be ways to quickly adjust the volume without even looking at the mixer (ie. the ability to adjust a clips volume by +/-3db using ctrl+] or ctrl+[ in FCP) I need the mixers functionality to be on par with previous versions of avid.
I can't see any benefit with the new mixer apart from the meters which needn't take up so much room. I no longer have the screen space to show all 16 tracks which means ganging tracks is now a massive pain (btw why can't alt clicking a gang icon disable all ganging?).
Oh, and +1 for the return of alt click center panning.
I do like the tabs in the bin wondows though - superbin never worked well for me
On the other hand, all the nice options in 7 imported from protools makes the thing even bigger. But if you switch to 27 inch 2560 x 1440 monitors (around 500$ a piece nowadays) the window stays quite small while you can adjust other windows to the size you prefer. And you will want to given that they finally made waveforms very quick and usable, so your audio tracks will grow in size as well. Tip for the windows users amongst us, place your taskbar at the left side of the screen on 16:9 monitors. It will result in a bigger and more evenly spread Avid workspace over your monitor(s)
