I actually like the new mixer. It's easier to see, although I agree it would be better to have the option to resize it to individual preference.
However, I find the new audio tool way too wide. I always have both the Mixer and Audio Tool open side-by-side. The new tool is much wider than the old version. You can resize it--making it narrower--but you loose the calibration numbers on the right.
I have a fantastic editing assistant. He stays by my side when I edit...doesn't talk too much...and thinks I'm a genius! Check him out here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQVkYaaPO6g
The lack of alt+click to center pan is another of many reasons why I won't be upgrading. I need things to be faster - NOT slower!
WWLD?
Another vote for a much smaller Audio Mixer.
Im running dual 24 " monitors and havent had an issue as of yet but I think scalability is always a good thing.
that beind said Im used to a 96 channel pm1d so I think its kinda small and has limited channel strips.

agree!!
please bring back the "old" mixer.. or an option to switch to the old mixer. the new is too big & has no performance & very confusing (in fact i always worked with the collapsed mixer version and that was very fast & reliable... today i always have to search for my audio tracks ... long mouse ways... not a good change!!)
i have no problem in changing the UI to a "new" and "fresh" thing to get all these FCP boys content.. but please do also something for the performance-fast editors that work with avid for years!
thanks

Did 6.0.3 fix that for you? It seems that some like me are still having this issue and others don't.
+1
Completely agree. In addition to being too big to practically have more than 4 or maybe 8 track view enabled, I also hate the active level indicators on every track. As I play down a sequence and various audio tracks become active or inactve, the audio mixer interface lights up all over the place, flashing new tracks as their enabled and bouncing the indicator lines. I'm used to working with the mixer constantly open right next to my timeline to quickly make level changes on the fly, but all the flashing lights are so distracting that I can't pay attention to the playback - my eye keeps being drawn to the rave going on in my giant giant audio mixer.
I can see how the larger interface and even track level indicators can be useful IN SPECIFIC CIRCUMSTANCES such as fine tuning an offline mix and seeing what track might by pinning your audio output levels, but I don't see any reason why you whouldn't have the option to switch between the larger, more robust mixer and the old compact quick utilitarian one. For the time being I have to just work with the mixer closed and open it every time I want to make an adjustment, then close it again before playing back. HUGE hassle. I'd stick with 5.5 but the facility I'm in has officially made the switch and it's too much of a pain bouncing projects between 5.5 and 6.0 systems.

It would be so helpful if the mixer tool and it's contents were made completely and proportionately scalable, and included on/off options for the individual track meters.

+1 on the audio mixer being too big. I'm going back and forth between my office system (MC5) and my home system (MC6) and finding that it's really not just a screen real estate issue, it's a speed of use issue. Having all the track level adjusters tightly packed and close together makes adjusting levels SO much faster. I especially miss having the "gang" button right above the meter, since I'm CONSTANTLY ganging two or more tracks together to adjust levels, and it just takes so much longer in MC6. Really hope we at least get the option to switch back to the old mixer in the next update.
+1 - another Vote for a much smaller ausio mixer (and I know not one of my fellow editos who not miss the old one!)
Larry Rubin:contents were made completely and proportionately scalable, and included on/off options for the individual track meters.
Excactly! Or the Meters could be integrated under the fader-sliders so that space is saved! I mean the Fader could sit ON the Meter.
and ridiculous: Pan Knob needs to much MouseMovement and Fiddling--> When Mixer is near the left Screenborder I have to drag the Mixerwindow right to get Space to adjust the Pan-Poti of A1 to full left!!!
So, please bring Panorama sliders Back! They're not as shiny for Product Pictures but work. Or adjust Mouse Movement to Up/Down instead of left/right! Or some clickable Buttons for Left/Right, or keyboard trim +10/-10 like with effects.

Well, it's like this . . . .I'm using 4.05. The reason I have not upgraded (I own 6.0, but will not use it or upgrade further) is because of what, in my humble opinion, are arbitrary and needless changes made to the Media Composer / Symphony we all knew and loved for so many years. The alt-click to center pan is just another on a long list of changes that would, if I used the software, destroy my workflow. I am now happily editing on 4.05, and will continue to do so, unless there's a game changing feature, or if market requirements force me to change.

I finally installed MC 6 after sitting on it for the past few months while waiting for a patch that would address a lot of the issues - 6.0.3.2 seems to have done that.
So after a week of using it, I'm happy enough but the new Audio mixer takes up too much room, I don't mind the individual channel level meters, but it would be nice to be able to switch them on and off - BUT what's with the stupid pan knobs???!!! It's a 2d computer screen, I can't reach out and turn them by hand and the mouse control is hopeless!! Avid is not a toy - it's a tool for professionals - so loose the fluff. Loosing the alt click to zero pan is plain silly. My habit has always been click and type zero - and that deosn't seem to work as well - often taking several goes to get it to zero.
The new look GUI is OK -got to move with the times I guess - although the bins seem to have put on a bit of weight - or my monitors have suddenly gone on a diet...
Two more things - the interface colour settings - the slider goes to black, but not to white, and the lightest setting is still too dark for my liking. My eyes aren't the best in the world...
And finally, now when you load a clip or sequence, the highlight on that clip / sequence goes off in the bin when it loads - if you want to see which clip / sequence is loaded you have to go back and click the bin to make it active again. Now that it doesn't work anymore I really notice how much I used it - just glancing across to the bins to see which sequence I was workiing on, or seeing which clip in a long list of clips I am on etc...
