1-When i import a 1080p25 footage into a session set at 1080i59.94, does MC automatially transcode it to the latter format ???
2-If QT shows the file is 1080 at 25 fps, how do i know if it's progressive or interlace ?? Thanks
Re progressive / Interlaced footage. I always import (or better still AMA) into an interlaced project and use field stepping to test for movement changes.
AMA is your friend here.
Re the frame rate. Yes if you import then the conent made will be at the frame rate of the project so it will convert the content (the quality isn't great) Again AMA is better here as it isn't converted.

Pat,
My original footage is 1080 @ 25 fps and i need to output the final mov at 59.94i
If i follow your suggestions, i should:
1-Start an MC project at 59.94i
2-AMA the footage
3-Export the sequence at 59.94i
If the above steps are correct then i don't understand why AMA would be better than if i imported the file and let MC transcode to the sequence setting. Either way, it will be transcoded ( because my final output has to be in 59.94i), the only difference is via AMA it will be transcoded at the export stage as opposed to the import stage. Thanks
