Does Decklink Intensity Shuttle USB 3.0 Supported?

I'd like to buy a Intensity USB 3.0 interface to work with Media Composer 6 in Windows 7 64bit, did this interface supported?

    Will it works in 10bit?

    Thanks!

See if http://avid.force.com/pkb/LegacySearch?DocId=420615 has the answers to your question.

I think BMD says any of their interfaces work with MC6 and it appears to handle 10bit video too. Avid's list does only include the Intensity Pro, though...

Just do NOT try it on a laptop. BMD and I have been over this a number of times, and despite their ads showing their USB3 products with laptops they do NOT officially support ANY! Only for towers with either built in USB3 or an add in USB3 card.

Re: Does Decklink Intensity Shuttle USB 3.0 Supported?

I've been dealing with this for 2 weeks now. First of all, thanks to Marianna and the tech support folks at Avid for working with me and doing extensive work on this issue. Also, thanks to the Black Magic folks for their hard work as well.

It captures fine, but with that said, I was (am) having trouble after importing music and then trying to edit it in the Source window. Even though you see it registering on Avid's audio meters, you can't hear it. The fact is, if there's no video track associated with the music, you won't hear it through your Shuttle USB 3.0. After working with Avid and Black Magic, Black Magic said they found the problem on their end and are rapidly trying to fix it. I believe the Shuttle Pro works alright, but I won't until they send me one to try out. Once again they said they are currently and rapidly working to resolve the issue with a new software update.

I would hold off for a few more days though.

    Steve

Re: Does Decklink Intensity Shuttle USB 3.0 Supported?

I am a reseller of Black Magic products and we have tested the shuttle and cannot make it work properly with MC6.  We have it working on the same systems with Premiere but in MC6 we get lots of delays when switching between windows.  The other Black Magic devices work fine and we recommend them for MC but not the USB 3 devices.

We contacted Black Magic and they said the USB3 devices were not supported with MC.  We seem to have some other conflicting views here, but based on experience with several systems (laptops and desktops) it does not work.

We have a couple of laptops that work, although not officially supported by Black Magic (at least work with Premiere and Media express).  On a desktop we have only had success with NEC chipset cards.  Other chipsets (ETRON for example) have had problems and on a board with an ETRON controller built-in, we have even has problems adding an NEC USB3 card to run the Shuttle.

But at the same boards here Kristian Lam from BM said that once one of them

works all are working the same.

I am receiving mixed signals on that.

"this support now gives users the choice of using next generation Thunderbolt, USB 3 and PCI Express hardware devices."

    Shuttle is USB3 also.

I hear both of them too, someone says "all of BMD device use the same architecture so if one device works, then the others will work all right" but another one says "only the PCI-e interface Intensity Pro works, the USB3.0 interface is not compatiable", so I'm confused with these messages.

Re: Does Decklink Intensity Shuttle USB 3.0 Supported?

I have to agree I have had mixed information.  When we first tested this we looked on the pages in Avid and it specifically said the USB3 devices were not supported.

Speaking from experience though, we could not get the Shuttle to work properly with MC6 on machines where it would work properly with Premiere.  This meant an MC6 specific issue.  We tested with 6.0 and 6.01, as well as BM drivers 9 & 9.01.

In a desktop machine with the shuttle attached I has getting delays just switching from source to timeline (it would actually capture and playback but kept hanging switching windows).  I disconnected the shuttle, put in an Intensity pro and even without re-installing drivers it the Intensity pro worked fine.

Re: Does Decklink Intensity Shuttle USB 3.0 Supported?

    David,

unfortunately PPro works better is not what I see here.

    To clarify:

At MC 6.01 I can see a small delay but totally workable.

HOWEVER to work on PPro with Shuttle is a nightmare.

Something you are not pointing out.

The output works fine with the source but not with the timeline,

which must be at a BM preset setting and not one of the PPro's presets.

However again if you import a file which doesn't have the right resolution

you need to interpret the footage to the correct aspect ratio

    OR

to fit and fill each clip at the resolution of the project,

    OR

    no preview.

I think MC 6.01 even with the small delay (only when scrubbing from one monitor to the other)

is a way better or let me say faster to start working.

Re: Does Decklink Intensity Shuttle USB 3.0 Supported?

I have the Intensity Shuttle now for a week. Haven't done any capturing yet, but for monitoring it seems ok, except that it can not output 1080p25 or 1080p29.97. If you have a project with this framerate the output switches to 1080i50 / 1080i60.

Although when working with Resolve Lite the card can output 1080p25. After doing some research it seems that the card is capable of these resolution (as they are advertised) but they are not unlocked.

I also just discovered the issue that sound only clips can not be heard, which is quite annoying, hope this will be fixed soon.

I've also tried the card with my Notebook, but as expected it didn't work, as it has no supported chipset.

Re: Does Decklink Intensity Shuttle USB 3.0 Supported?

Here I am getting delays but not always.

Especially when there are heavy (many) effects on clips.

When the clips are not having effects it's a way better.

Even on a 3 hours and a half multicam timeline.
