Hello,
How do you clean up your system drive?
I'm trying to figure out the best way to unclutter my hard drives. In the system drive, I've already manually deleted all unused documents/files. It's just the inner folders that I do not want to mess around. I've also done the Avid method for our project files, so that's all good.
It's really the main/system drive that I want to free up some more.
For instance, is there a way to reduce the Library folder?
Here's a screenshot.

What is your typical occupied space in your system drive?
Mine has AvidMC Suite, Photoshop, other media creation tools, some office tools.

Only the caches and temp files but those will be a tiny drop in the ocean.
My software: Pro Maintenance Tools - Tools to keep Avid Media Composer, Final Cut Studio, Final Cut Pro X and Adobe Premiere Pro running smoothly and fix problems when they arise Pro Media Tools - Edit QuickTime chapters and metadata, detect gamma shifts, edit markers, watch renders and more More tools...
Thanks. so you're saying I'm stuck with whatever my apps are building up?
I'm doing another sweep.
How about the Library files in the shared user, is it necessary? is it safe to remove?
I wouldn't advise it because you don't know what it's liable to screw up and you'll only save a trivial amount of space anyway.
Ok, thanks. Do you think 2/3 of used space is a safe working primary drive?
I've always used a rule of 30% free space but some people say 20% or even 15%. It's less of a problem as hard drives get bigger.
ok, that's good to know. thanks
