Yeah, I'm still having issues with trimming when I have audio scrub enabled. I was holding out for the latest patch, thinking it was supposed to fix this, but it's a no-go. Trimming in general with the Matrox MXO 2 Mini is almost unusable in MC 6.x, but if I forget and leave audio scrub enabled when trimming, the system will lock up for a good 10-20 seconds, before coming back to me.
I'll probably roll back to 5.x, which was smooth as butter by the way, if I can make sure that my Boris Coninuum Complete can be downgraded, etc. Plus, the recent troubles I had with the software licensing gives me pause too.
Are others still having troubles trimming with MXO2 Mini?

I recently installed the MC 6.0.1 update and also upadated my OS to Lion. I thought this might fix the issue but it did not. It still freezes on a frame by frame scrub on audio only files (like a music track or VO) in the Source window. It will perform ok sometimes in the record window, but not every time.
Again, here's the error I get after the 20 second freeze:
"BlipPlayer::NonThreadedPlayBlipField: Timed out waiting for single frame player to stop. If scrubbing a complex sequence of unrendered effects, consider rendering them for better performance."
I recently bought a Multibridge Pro hoping that would solve the DeckLink issue... the same "BlipPlayer" Avid freeze occurs everytime I try to scrub audio making it impossible to sync sound. It's become a real huge issue for us and we have now wasted thousands of dollars on OutPut Cards.
It's frustrating that Avid has provided no solution to such an intergral problem after releasing MC6 months ago back in 2011. We are potentially missing deadlines if these issues persist.
Yup, same problem here. I'm running the Matroxo2 LE and I just deinstalled the software and the problem is gone. MC 6.0.1
Avid, I still have not had any resolution from the forums or anyone at MC6 Support. I need to get this resolved so I can use MC more often. Please advise on what to do so this issue can be resolved. Thanks! Lee
This is COMPLETELY non-supported and it more than likely WILL NOT fix the issue long term, but it's worth a look for the foolhardy and adventurous. I am currently cutting a small feature on Premiere Pro CS6 and I installed the Matrox 3.1 driver specifically for client monitor output from Premiere Pro. However, and this is where it gets interesting, I jumped over into Media Composer yesterday and was surprised as all get out to see that I was actually getting client monitor output from MC as well!
I did a cursory test, and it seemed to me that the 3.1 driver (which is absolutely NOT meant for Media Composer) works better than the officially recommended driver. I was actually able to trim with the audio scrub enabled for the first time since 5.x days and it felt pretty darn smooth.
I had an unrelated issue with my MXO2 Mini and when their tech support agent called me I mentioned to him that the 3.1 driver worked in Media Composer and he was completely surprised by it and said he'd pass the word on to the engineering team. Perhaps we'll see a unified driver after all, huh?
Your mileage may vary, but it MIGHT be worth a try installing the 3.1 driver on OSX 10.7.4 and see if it helps. Just don't blame me if your computer blows up.

The problem relies on the design of OPEN IO. It's an architectural oversight because avid though every board would work like their own nitris. So there you go, 7 months and no solution.
I hope avid has this problem up on their list of priorities because last time I talked to Marianna, it didn't seem so. They might not even see it as a bug, because they probably believe all the boards should behave iike their own. It does work with the AJA, it doesn't with Matrox or Blackmagic.
But for us, matrox users, it is a serious bug since it was working perfectly fine on 5.5.
Oddly enough, I have not had any similar issues with MC 6 and now Symphony 6.01 in conjuction with a Black Magic Eclipse and the BM driver/software.
Just spent many difficult hours with the same tech hell problem.
Disconnect Mattrox MX02 Mini, NO scrubbing problem, freezing, crashing, not even a Blip.
My take home: Reconnect the Mini and DO NOT ever engage the shift lock without turning it back off.
It sucks, but it does work.
(I keep fast scrubbing on, as well, no problems.)
Anyway, the consistent thing is imported audio clips...
Hope this gets fixed!

I never did find a solution or hear good feedback on how avid media composer 6 can work with the black magic deck link 2 card (or any 3rd party hardware for that matter). The solution I did finally find was buying an AJA Kona LHi card. Not a great fix for my other computer that now has the black magic capture card, but at least avid works with the Kona card. I just figured 8 months worth of waiting for a fix was too long. Hopefully this scrubbing issue will get resolved and it'll work smoothly with future updates.
my entire company has this same issue. fast scrub is a definite crash.
James, this thread is over a year old. What version of MC are you running?
The latest for v6 is v6.0.4...try that.
