Does Analogue Mojo down convert from HD to SD?

I have a Client that has rented my MC dongle and my SDI mojo, they have a limited budget. The footage that they are cutting is Red footage they are using the component out put from the SDI mojo to monitor in component. Could this be done also using an analogue mojo?

Installed a new Panasonic 17" LCD recently. I am currently feeding it component from my Mojo which works fine. However, I am looking for options to take advantages of its digital capabilities but do not know how or what to send it. I don't believe I have a digital output available. Is there any sense to somehow convert the analog component video to digital?

Ok so here is my review after a little over a month with this system....

This system is simply awesome, I am running the dual monitor set up with 2 22" monitors and a 2.1 logictech sound system.

I use this machine primarily for video and audio editing, but I also work on our church Web site with it.

No issues at all.

The software I use is:

Avid Media Composer V. 3.5
Adobe CS3 Master Collection (frequently use simultaneously Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Audition, Adobe Sound Booth)
Mozilla Thunderbird
Mozilla Firefox
Windows Live messenger
Windows Media Player
Internet Explorer
Sonic DVD by Avid

Most of the programs listed above I use at the same time, I have been trying to bog it down...just once....hasn't happened yet...it will not slow down, it will not hang up, and it boots up super fast because it doesn't have all the other junk on it that other computers do.

I run a JVC Mini-DV deck into it BR-dv3000u through 1 of the firewire ports, runs seamlessly...no hiccups or anything like that.

The Video card, Ram, and Processor work very well together providing me with excellent Audio and Video quality while editing and a perfect export quality to DVD through Audition and in real time export through my Deck to a DVD recorder.

I cannot express how fast the start up is.

Dream Edit Suite for mid/high-end price?

Hello, I'm working with a large corporation on developing it's own internal video production studio. Currently i'm working in the call center using high-end headphones :S. I'll finally be getting my own studio space along with a seperate edit suite. So here I am looking for suggestions for the edit suite.

No need for any suggestions in terms of CPU/software/etc..., as it's not too hard to determine what's the best for that .

More so interested in the 'little' things. Brief list could be items such as specific tables, chairs, fancy mouses, ergonomic keyboards, certain types of lights/lighting, etc...
Budget is around the mid/high-end of things (e.g. a $200 mouse is reasonable). I'd say that my ergonomics would be of the most extreme importance. Even if it's an ugly pink, i'll gladly buy it if it provides for superior ergonomics.

Can you send clip notes to customer for editing approval?

I don't know what the proceedure is called in AVID but in Adobe Premiere Pro - CLIP NOTES allows the editer to send a small wmv file to a customer for viewing and allows the customer to make notes on changes. The customer sends the notes boack to the editer.

What Do You Use for a Video Monitor?

Hi -

We are going to be adding another edit station and I am looking for suggestions for edit (video) monitors. We recently "upgraded" one of our stations to the Sony LMD-2050W (20" LCD) and ARE NOT VERY HAPPY with the picture (it replaced a Sony PVM-14M4U -- 14" CRT which was nice... but small). We primarily produce in SD, and as a Government Access channel do not have a great demand for HD... but that being said, we are slowly migrating to the 21st century.

What monitor do you use and are you happy with its picture?

All suggestions are appreciated...

NAS Storage

has anyone of you a fast NAS storage for backing up your avid media / avid project files / a.s.o.?

I'm looking for a big and fast NAS drive. I was thinking of an 1TB drive with a GB LAN conection. the LAN has a GB switch, so has the avid workstation from HP.

I tested a western digital drive called "WD myBook World Edition II" but the LAN performance was poor - just go a maximum of 30 MBit/sec. to slow to backup large MXF or QT files.

Any recomandations?

Problem when I import .avi---->WHITE SCREEN

Hi, i'm using Avid Media Composer v2.5.3, when I import .avi files, I can't see any image, only a white screen. I was reading about this problem, and it says that I must have a codec which I don't have. Do you have any idea of which codec I have to install?

Building budget system for AMC 3 w. Mojo SDI

We are building a avid workstation specially for AMC 3. It will be used for both SD and HD jobs.

Here is what I have in mind:

Instead of spending 3800EUR on a HP XW8600 with two xeon 5450 procs/4gb ram have been thinking about building a custom setup, rebalancing the cost.

But first a key question for you guys: I am aware of the PCI Bus Segmentation requirement for Avid Mojo.

But what if I use a PCI express firewire card? It will be on a different bus then, so there will be no concurential problems with pci. So this is the main question: Does mojo work on pci express firewire cards?

The other generic system specs are:

Intel X48 or P45 chipset board

Quadro FX1700

45nm quad core

4-8 gb ram

Vista 64

~2TB in hard drives

Pci express firewire card

So do you think this may run AMC 3 with mojo sdi?

Is it possible to upgrade to HD?

Is it possible for a Deko 3000 SD system to be upgraded to HD Hybrid without buying a new system?

I believe this probably involves changing the I/O card and reinstall some software and drivers.

Can anyone advice on the MSRP of such an upgrade if its possible?

I came up with this UI color scheme after tinkering. I only have one 24" Dell widescreen @ 1920 x 1200. I'm conflicted as to whether I want to purchase another 24", plug-ins, or hard drives. As a side note, I have been using Avid for 3 months now and I'm totally addicted to it now.

Am I the only one who runs Avid with the TC track of the timeline at the top rather than the bottom? A hangover from my days doing time on a Media 100 system where the navigation was always at the top.

The main advantage is that if you have a crowded timeline where the tracks scroll off the bottom your navigation always stays on top. I think this shows the versatility of Avid in that you can migrate from other systems and set things up the same as you used to do it before. (Well mostly - the modal based editing could do with looking at as has been said elsewhere).

Other than that a pretty bog standard screen.

My Keyboard has been fairly mutated over the years. But it works for me. Originally starting on DVision (before Media100) I have always found keyboard editing the fastest way to go - so mapable keyboards are indispesable.

I'd like to see some of the Color Correction tools mappable. For instance it would be great to do an Auto Levels operation (or run the CC Macro) at the press of a button without going into CC mode and without having to drag from the Effects pallette.
