We've imported movie clips and saved them onto a page. The problem is, there is about a 2-second delay between when the page is read, and when the animation clip starts to play. Any ideas of how we might make an animation play back immediately?

I tried playing with a sequence, but was unable to make it work.
Basically, I'm building a sports ticker sort of thing--video input shrunk down on top of an animated background, with a Deko layer of scores and an animated bug next to it. Everything works fine while I'm working in DekoCast. The next couple of times I open the project in DekoCast, everything is fine.

However, at some point, when I open the project in DekoCast, the application refuses to play, cue or even load either of the clips (the animated bug and the animated background). In addition, none of the actions in the project will run; I can click the 'Play Action' button until the cows come home, and nothing ever happens. If I try to insert a new clip into the project, it won't load or play. It's as if the entire project just stops working; the Deko layer and the video in are fine, but none of the clips will load. My only workaround thus far has been to rebuild the project from scratch (fortunately, it's not a *huge* project, and I've been keeping track of my settings on paper as I've been going). It's not an issue with the clips themselves, as they load and play perfectly fine in a new project. And I don't think it's an issue with overtaxing the machine; as I said, I've been able to run this project in the past, both in DekoCast and DekoCast Central.

So...I'm wondering if anyone else has seen behavior like this--where clips won't play after a project has been opened and closed several times. We're working on version 4.1.2 of DekoCast right now; I see there's a 4.2.1 available which offers "significant product hardening", but without a current support contract, I can't get to it--anyone know if 4.2.1 would fix that sort of problem?

TIA!!!

PostDeko for Editors Webinar: Work Less, Do More

See how PostDeko for Editors helps you to cut down on recreation and transfer time and lets you share your graphics look between live and post environment.

I've been trying to import clips into ClipDeko, but it just hasn't been working lately. I downloaded and bought Quicktime Pro 7 to convert things to .MOVs, which according to this Deko book I'm holding here, does work (at least with some special .mov* file), but the instructions in the book don't match up with what is available to me on Quicktime Pro. I don't see how I cam do this step here:

3. Export (File-> Export) (this is obviously there)

4. Use these video settings to export a compatible *.mov file for Deko:

                 - Animations

Made the weather icons a custom typeface (.fac) in PostDekolite.
Created a text box with custom typeface as the style and saved as a .dko file.
Typing in the text box in PostDekoLite the images show up fine, a=sun, etc.

When brought into Dekocast (working on Hybrid System) it shows up as default actual

in the channel station I work for, we have a Deko 1000 .

Inside Deko, I can convert videos from .mov to MXF but the only compression is mpeg. Happens that compressing that way, we can only play 2 videos at the same time. Using the examples videos that come with deko (are compressed in DV25) we can playback several videos at the same time.

so I am searching for some way I can convert my .mov files to MXF but with DV25 compression.

Thank you all for the help you can give.

DekoCast can't display animated emoticons or images, gif png or whatever inside the text,

I can use the crawl object, but I can only use the crawl effect, and I have to put the emoticon on a seperate line, besides it's very difficult to deal with,

So I need to know if the new release of DekoCast or PostDeko Lite can do it, and if I can install any upgrades without purchasing a whole new hardware??!!??!!

please I need this informaion urgently so we can deside if we should replace our avid platform with other solutions,

I worked on DekoCast 3.6 and I used to put clip playback objects, and I used to play dv video files, every graphic guy knows the format,

but recently, I started to work with DekoCast 4.1.2, and only playes the following extentions: mxf, m2v, vbs, and it doesn't play the old dv extensions anymore, and nobody arround knows how to convert to these formats, and most of them has not heard of them,

please advise, how to convert, what software to use?!

1) How do I get powerclips to play when mapped to a 3d object? For testing I've used a cube that I've been mapping Deko layers to the sides of. This works, but when I try doing this with a powerclip it fails to play - instead displaying a frozen (first?) frame. My powerclips play fine in a 2D scene, just not when used with Deko3D.

2) I am trying to get a 3D object to fade out within a scene (over time) & have tried using both a 'visibility track' and also the opacity of the applied texture within 3Ds Max but Deko doesn't seem to notice this. Is there a way to get an object (or Deko3D layer) to dissolve in/out?

3) When wrapping a Deko layer around a sphere there seems to be a seam down the back of the object that I cannot close. This occurs where the edges of the Deko layer meet when wrapped around the sphere. I wanted to wrap a map of the earth onto the sphere which looked nice but its impossible to rotate, otherwise you'd see the seam!!

Thanks again,
