The fans on the DX aren't nearly as noisy as my VideoRaid or HDCAM deck though. The deck is so loud that i will only have it powered on when capturing or outputting.

NitrisDX fan noise

I just bought a used NitrisDX. Can any of you long time users provide some feedback? It is in my home studio and not rack mounted. It is noisy! The two front fans come on at what seems to be the high speed and do not throttle down. Is that normal? The case does not feel warm, the air coming out the back is not warm even after being on for hours and the room temperature is, well room temperature.

Is that normal? Is it just a noisy box? Does anyone have experience putting toothpicks in the fans to stop them?

In advance, thanks for the feedback!
