Avid Liquid Chrome Xe hardware requirement

Is Chrome Xe compatable with any other hardware besides AJA Xena LHe hardware? Also, is there a way to get the software out of the DEMO mode since I currently do not have the Xena LHe?

Avid Liquid version 7 activation problems

I bought an Avid Liquid version 7, but I didn't have an internet connection until yesterday, that's why I register my software today and download the upgrade (7.2). I have the following problems: 1. I can't find the "Activation Keys". Pinnacle sent to me an e-mail with directions that I have to follow, but I can't understand the procedure, also I can't find the Activation Keys included into the help menu. 2. While I'm editing a video appears an Avid Logo, also when I burned the DVD the logo appears during all the video.

If you need an extra explanation about my issue please ask me. I desperately need your help.

Liquid laptop advice

I've always been adverse to laptops (people rarely move them around, there's a price premium, so why not buy a pizza box?) - but now I have a need.... I have to set up editing systems on the move, and a laptop is the only realistic option.

I want to base it around Liquid 7, it needs to be fast and stable. I want to use an eSATA system for external drives, and capture and run the media direct from there. It needs to fly - as speed is the main requirement (media sims in armed forces and governement disaster planning environments). There will be a lot of travelling, so it would need to be rugged and not too big. I do, however, work in 16:9, so I guess it would be nice if the screen was that shape. Less important - i'll also be using After Effects and Photoshop fairly extensively.

I did a search on here and found nothing. I've got the specs to start from, of course, but I'm new to laptops, so there might be specific stuff there I need to know.

Any advice? (or links to a thread where this has already been covered) Makes, things to look out for, crucial bits of the specs, latest graphics card advice (i'm aware that is really crucial)

Oh - the budget is less important than getting the above correct (and I'm in the UK anyway - so we get completely stung every time) - but maybe a grand to a grand and a half sterling.

AVID LIQUID 7.1 HELP

Hi,

I am using Avid Liquid 7.1. I'm new to it as I've only been using Avid Xpress in the past.

I'm having a difficult time with the shortcuts and working in the timeline as I'm so used to Xpress.

I was wondering if someone could tell me: I'd like to know how to lift something out. For example I have a scene in the middle that I just want to lift out leaving a blank space to fill later, but damn for the life of me I can not figure this out. In Xpress the "Z" was used as the lift key... is this in Avid Liquid and I just can't find it?

Also is there a way to make working with Liquid a little more like Xpress, I know it's just a matter of getting used to Liquid, but don't have a lot of time, ugh.

Not that anyone with half a brain didn't see the end of Chrome HD coming, but does Avid intend to offer any options other than Final Cut Pro to those of us who are now orphaned?

Avid has formally announced that we will end production of the Chrome HD product, effective immediately. This affects all Chrome HD products, hardware upgrade kits and I/O breakout boxes. Please note that Avid Liquid, Avid Liquid Pro and Avid Liquid Chrome Xe are not affected. These products will continue to be available and are being managed through the Pinnacle division of Avid.

Unfortunately, Avid can no longer obtain the necessary parts to build the Chrome HD hardware, due to the end of production of various components from third-party suppliers.

Support and Parts

Avid will continue to offer support options for customers for 5 years from the official end of production, i.e. October 31, 2012 and we endeavour to provide spare parts, where available, on an advance replacement basis for customers with a valid support contract, provided that the part needing replacement is within warranty. In other cases, a “return to factory” exchange/repair policy will be employed when possible.

What will happen to the Chrome HD forum?

The Chrome HD forum on avid.com will become read only next Tuesday November 6, 2007 and we encourage customers to post their questions on the Chrome Xe forum on pinnaclesys.com. Most questions posted to date have been answered by the Liquid moderators so we feel customers will be better served this way.

Audio capture wihtout video.

Someone has tried to capture only audio streams with out video in the capture mode? In 4 xw84000 the result is the same...drop frames and impossible to capture...anyone with the same problem?

The normal capture works fine (sdi,live,betacam.Video+audio)

I can't find any word about this product from Avid or Pinnacle web.
Also the new forums on Pinnacle site are for Liquid and Liquid Pro only.

Chrome HD availability and capability

I was talking with a user in the Liquid/Liquid Pro forum last night and the subject of true HD editing came up and upgrading was of course involved. I suggested checking out Chrome HD and started looking at both the Avid and Pinnacle sites for specs and pricing. It looks like the Liquid line has already been moved from the Avid store to the Pinnacle store but Chrome isn't there. I'll send this up the escalation chain.

The question we discussed was whether Chrome/Xena could do non-GOP 1080i and 1080p import/edit/export. What's the word on this from the Chrome gurus?

I am looking for Liquid Chrome HD project storage solutions .

What are folks using to store projects?

Anything better solutions than external hard drives? I sure miss being able to archive projects on Data DVDs.

I do all the in-house promotion work and we need to be able to revise promos / opens / graphics, etc.on a regular basis.

Is blu-ray a viable option yet? 25 GB on a single layer disk would be useful.

Panasonic demonstrated a blu-ray 30 disk array here awhile back that looked very promising but it wasn't in production yet.

Suggestions, please.

no audio or video from bob

i am not getting any audio or video out of my bob. i am getting audio and from my sound card. also a am not getting an error saying that my bob is not attached. i tried disconecting and started and it said no bob is attached. powered everthing off reconnected and the bob did its little click thing it does and the monitor says ntsc but no video and audio any ideas??? also i tried another bob i have the pro dig. bob

well i know its not the bob i just hooked my other chrome up to that bob and it worked fine.

What happened to audio keyframes?

When I insert an audio edit the clip doesn't have any keyframes. In previous versions (5.x, 6.x) there was a keyframe at the beginning and at the end of a clip. Now in version 7.2 no keyframes. Is this an oversight? Is there a new setting somewhere I'm not familiar with? Please advise.

Utterly Confused and Frustrated

All I want to do is downcovert and make a NTSC screener copy of my 720/24p timeline (on either Mini-DV or BetaSP). I discovered this can't be done via firewire because Liquid has no 3:2 pulldown capabilities.

So my other option is to use the Xena card to do the conversion to NTSC (I have a Chrome Xe system). The problem is that my decks have Y,B-Y,R-Y inputs and the Xena outputs are Y,Pr,Pb outputs. The video signal turns is pink when monitored on the Y,B-Y,R-Y decks.

So why does the Xena card have outputs that do not match professional grade VTR's? What good is a Y,Pr,Pb output? Am I missing something here? I looked up the differences between Y,B-Y,R-Y and Y,Pr,Pb and I am now even more confused than when I started.

I'm curious how other folks are converting 720p/24 to NTSC. Anyone?

should i upgrade to xe and what is the differents and the cost can i still use my bob i have the digital one that was 4999.00

To AE or not to AE

I do corporate video work, and am working on my 2008 budget. I'm thinking about asking for funds to purchase After Effects, but wanted to see what the consensus was on this forum first. How many are using AE successfully and would recommend it?

I have read through the archives about the 'white flash' problem and other issues. This doesn't seem to be a problem that most are having.

The first thing I wanted to accomplish by purchasing AE was to have a better chroma/green-screen keyer. I have tried the various effects in ALC, but I'm not completely satisfied with the results. This is partially my fault, as my lighting might not be exactly perfect. I'm thinking AE may be a little more forgiving in this area, though. I also did some research on the Ultra 2 software, but it looks like that has been swallowed up by Adobe.

Of course, if I did get AE keying would just be a small part of what I could eventually do.

So what do you think?

Liquid Chrome 7.2 Crashing-to-Restarts

All of a sudden, my Chrome 7.2 is Crashing every few minutes and restating on it's

HP xw8400.

No new software added recently, nor updates, no virus's detected.

Clean software re-installs have not resloved this issue.

Contacting support in the morning but if you have any sugesstions....?

Considering re-install that stops at 7.1 SP1 update.

What to do with DVCPro 720/24p reels?

We just picked up a non broadcast project. The client has a dozen reels shot on a Varicam at 720/24p. We do a lot of editing but never experienced working with this format. I am looking for suggestions and advice on the best way to tackle it.
Qaulity is important but this is not a broadcast project. It's only an internal corporate communication piece for DVD and intranet distribution. My thinking is 16:9 DVCam will be ok but HDV would at least preserve the HD nature of the program.
I am thinking converting the tapes to HDV or renting a a Varicam deck? Are there vendors who convert 720/24p to HDV? or Will Chrome Xe support DVCPro 720/24p? Any discussion on this will be helpful. Thanks!

Digitize Disabled in Ingest Tool using Chrome Xe 7.2

Good day everybody,

This is my first post so don't beat me :)

I'm trying to resolve following problem or what it is, when i'm trying to use Ingest Tool under Tools -> Ingest Tool.. in Chrome 7.2, i'm allways getting Digitize button disabled, with LIVE player, or SONY DVCam recorder with SDI, Composite, Component inputs and different codecs no luck, just Digitizing disabled. Maybe it's bug or it's just feature that developers forgot to remove ? Duration also was modified in several modifications.

Using XENA Lhe 3.0 drivers, through Logging tool everything is fine with control, input and so on. But just no Ingest Tool.

Looking for your answers and suggestions :)

Hello,we found 2 problems with the new Chrome Xe with aja hardware.

1-> Don´t use any Nvidia Gforce 8xxx GPU chipset because all video output ( preview / export files ) appears with green flashes and other errors ( maybe overlay error or someting).Many drivers tried..same result.We know is not the certified card but some clients neede a powerfull card to do 3d,AFX etc.

2->Maybe one microsoft hotfix or new explorer causes a error in the colors of the chrome ( grey is the normal...with this bug all windows and boxes are blue ) nad make some problems in windows slice and movement.( we are working to identify the windows update hotfix )

we are in the process of upgrading to Chrome Xe from Silver 4.02. With Silver we have external RAID, which we will connect to Chrome. Can I simply copy the projects folder and check that the external RAID on Chrome has the same letter as on Silver (F:)? The question is - are the files (project + data) compatible? If not - any ideas how to transfer the existing projects.
