What version of what Avid product are you using? Once we know that, I'll move this to the correct forum for you.

good luck,
Carl

Overlay Track Error - Big, Blue Exclamation Point of Death (Ugh!)

I am new to the "board" and unsure where to address this question. I apologize if this is the wrong place.

I am trying to get the closing title slide (the ending movie credits, if you will) to play on top of a video clip. [The video clip is in Sony's AVC-HD format, if that makes any difference.] I have created a standard title slide and set it to roll up the screen. It works just great when it's in the video track.

However, if I go to the timeline and place the title slide below the video I want to overlay and then play the video, all I see in the preview window is the big, blue exclamation point of death. I do hear the video clip's sound just fine. When I stop the video, the preview screen shows the menu titles playing on top of the video, but that's only on pause. When I restart the video, the blue exclamation point reappears.

I buddy-chatted with the Tech Support people this morning and the guy told me that I need to uninstall and reinstall the entire program. I did it and it took hours to do and still did not fix the problem.

My thought is that I'm creating the title menu using the wrong type or something and that that's what's giving me the big, blue "!" or the video clip has to be of a certain format.

I'd appreciate any help or suggestions. If I need to post this in another area, please let me know.

Thank you in advance!
