This assumes you have 3GB or more of RAM installed.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;It basically tells the OS to allow MC to use a bit more than the 2GB limit (gives it another ~512MB). If you are in Vista 64 bit, it does not apply. Just add more RAM. MC will utilize up to 4GB in Vista 64 bit.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;i looked in the forums and most of the posts seemed to involve versions of MC previous to 3.x&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;is the patch nessessary with MC 3.x? &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;i have gotten the running out of memeory warning several times when working with small HD projects so i am wondering if for larger projects i should plan on working in smaller sections and assembling later or will the 3 GB patch be enough of a fix.&lt;/p&gt;
