The video REF
was fixed by setting the 'Video Output' setting to Reference. I had
inadvertently left it on default which was Internal. I'm still working on the
audio problem.

After talking with Avid for over an hour, the MOJO will be RMA'd through my reseller. Seems it has a bad 1/2 audio jack.

Re: MC 3.1.3 and MOJO SDI

i'm not sure about the REF video issue, but the audio does sound like a hardware problem. if you just purchased the Mojo, you should have some warranty period left. don't delay & call them and/or email them at warranty@avid.com include your system ID.

Thanks a ton for your reply and your time.

This audio issue is input related, I forgot to mention that.

I have swapped out the cables and triple checked the assignments in the
Passthrough Mix Tool. The left and right channels are panned separate. The
reason I think the input jack might be bad, is I can plug the cable into the
channel 3 and 4 and it separate the audio correctly. When it's plugged into the
channels 1 and 2, I only hear the left channel.

Thanks for clearing up the locked versus REF signal. I have the house REF
plugged into the black input cable for REF. I do not get the REF light on the
MOJO though. However, when I run the DNADiag, then the REF light comes on and
it passes the sync test. It fails on the video and audio tests though. Yet it
captures audio and video fine. (minus the audio channel issues) When I quit the
DNADiag the REF stays on, until I load a project in Avid. I have made frame
accurate edits with the SDI, in testing, so I'm not sure what to think of the
lack of REF light.

I guess I will have to look into calling Avid about the MOJO, see what light they can shed on these issues.

Thanks again,

Tim--

Re: MC 3.1.3 and MOJO SDI

well, i would begin with the obvious...

- make sure both tracks 1 & 2 are enabled in your cpature tool

- try swapping the rca cables out to eliminate a bad cable (my Mojo SDI shipped with a bad video cable)

- switch the RCA jacks on the same cable & see if audio comes in on the opposite channel or if it stays the same, ALSO swap our the entire rca cable & try the other 1/8" cable.

- if this is a playback issue (you don't say), make sure you have audio tracks 1 & 2 panned opposite L & R (using the audio mixer)

- if you are only hearing one track but can see both tracks on the audio tool, you have a muting issue somewhere.

if none of that works, & you just can't get audio inputing on ch.2 (R), you likely have a hardware problem with the Mojo... it wouldn't be the first one i've heard of. the little passthrough FW jack on my mojo has not worked since the day i took it out of the box. thankfully, it's never been critical (but with that & the defective cable they shipped me (& shortly replaced), you would wish for better from a $2500 peice of hardware!)

as for your other question, they are different things. the green light in the capture tool indicates that it has locked onto a "legal" video signal, but does not mean it is sync'd up with anything else. it's not genlock. the "ref" light on the Mojo should light to indicate the presence of an external sync signal, which means the Mojo itself is genlocked to your house sync (useful for routing through the mojo), however, this should not affect your video comming into the capture tool, which doesn't actually have to be sync'd with anything else to record frame-accurate. i capture live to my avid using the mojo, but because it's at the end of my signal chain, i don't have to use my house ref at all.

hope some of that helps. sorry for the long post, but i wanted to giv eyou everything i could think of. good luck!

I didn't see anything exactly like my problem in a search, hope I can get a
hand here.

I have been editing with MC 3.1.x with no issues using a basic 3rd party
bridge. We now have a MOJO SDI (mostly for the frame accurate insert editing).
Everything is working as expected except for one audio 'oddity'. Using the
1/8-inch mini-jack to RCA connectors in audio 1 and 2 only (we do not use
channels 3 and 4 ) I am not getting audio on the right side. If I move the plug
to the Audio 3 and 4 jack, then I get separated audio on the left and right. I
hope I am missing a setting some where. I have tried assigning channels 3 and 4
to 1 and 2 in the Passthrough mix tool - But I am not getting the correct
results. It seems almost like the input jack for channels 1 and 2 is bad. Only
allowing the left side of audio in. Any suggestions is appreciated.

Oh, And I guess there is one other thing. I noticed that Although I have
the green video lock light in the capture tool, the REF light does not light on
the MOJO. Are these two different things?

Thanks much,

Tim--

PS. The MOJO is connected to a Panasonic AJ-D450 with RGB (Component) video and
serial control. House REF is plugged into the REF wordclock cable.
