Sony Z1 Stopped Mounting

Hi,

I know this is probably an OS level issue but I'm shooting it here anyway.

We just reformatted our windowsXP workstation and re-installed the AXPStudio. When we try to capture using the SonyZ1, we noticed that it would only mount on the system when it is on DV (downconvert mode) but would immediately disconnect when switched to HDV mode.

It has been working fine on HDV/DV until the reformat.

Any ideas?

Pro Tools LE Will NOT Install!!

My Express Pro 5.7 stalled when initializing audio. I uninstalled everything but forgot Pro Tools. I upgraded to Express Pro 5.8. It works fine. I cannot install Pro Tools or use the Digi 002 from Express Pro. The Pro Tools hangs on installation. I have: uninstalled and tried re-installing everything several times. I have run PT Nuke, Reg Cleaner to delete Dididesign registry entries, deleted Digidesign program folders, and everything else I could find to uninstall ProTools and the Digi002. Nothing works! Pro Tools will not install. Any ideas?

Studio Toolkit 5.7 and compatable version of PT LE?

Looking for info on the compatable (not neccessarly the current) version of PT LE that would go with the studio toolkit 5.7.

in effect, simply trying to get me 002 working within xpress 5.8 and know due to drivers etc that i have to have the compatable version of PT LE running on the system...

can not seem to find documentation that is specific (or at least understandable) on the matter....

Avid DVD Error - DVDErr, -20404

When building video files/disk image/disk:

I get the error "Could not complete the last command because: The data rate of this file is too high for DVD. You must replace the file with one of a lower data rate. (DVDErr,-20404)"

The data rate for my video is 7782Kbps which seems well below the max rate of 9000Kbps.

Has anyone else experienced this error?

Burning to BLU-RAY disc - problems

Im trying to burn my first blu-ray disc project. I have already burned SD projects successfully.

When I choose burn disc, after building menus, and transcoding audio, I get this error message:

"BDMV Export COM could not be initialized"

I am using a Panasonic 2x Blu-ray burner, and trying to burn the project to a Panasonic 50GB BD-R dual layer disc - Please help!

Avid 3d licensing problem

ProCoder 2.0 vs Sorenson

This release is expected to be the final update to the Avid Media Composer v3.5.x. This release contains various bug fixes and performance improvements.

Software Eligibility:

Sequence Won't "Send to" sorenson for squeezing

HELP! I am trying to send a 1 hour sequence to Sorenson for squeezing so that I can make a DVD. I have done this numerous times before, but when I send it to Sorenson this time I get the error message "Unable to add source files. Following files not supported. ParnellWedingrecption.mov I haven't encountered this before and it is puzzeling me. My system is running Avid Express Pro Studio version 5.7.5. How can I get this sequence into Sorenson? Any help will be greatly appreciated. thanks

Dip to color with multiple PIP

I have three levels of PIP and when I put a dip to color effect on one of the layers the entire screen dips to color. I just want to edit a talking head together taking out the ums and ahs.

Newbie Stumped - How do I Import MXF files in Xpress Pro HD?

Hello All,

Well I solved my Avid & Pro Tools Installation problem and finally have the system up and running. Now I want to import a bunch of MXF files that were recorded on the Sony XD-1500 deck. I am working on Avid Xpress Studio HD v 5.2.1 using Pro Tools LE 6.5.3r2 and the HP xw8400 Workstation.

The MXF files are all there, but every time I try to import them I get an error message saying "An ACCESS_VIOLATION exception occured"; and thenwhen I click OK I get another error message saying "The import file is not a supported XDCAM MXF file". Can someone please instruct me on the proper way to import these files? Thanks a million.

Can't complete installation and authorization of the Pro Tools LE included with Xpress Studio HD

I have installed all the software for Avid Xpress Studio HD, including the Pro Tools LE that came with it. I installed the drivers for the Digidesign 002 that came with it. I have inserted the dongle and the iLok device as instructed, then when I go to open Pro Tools so I can validate and authorize the iLok device the system crashes and reboots every time I attempt to open the Pro Tools. Can anyone help me resolve this problem?

Rolling Title Issue

Can anyone help here with something?

I have not used the Rolling Title function of Marquee much, but need to today.

Please have a look at the attached screenshot of a frame in the sequence. There is significant dropout/corruption across the top of "Electric & Double Bass", as is the case at various stages throughout the roll.

It doesn't appear to be a font related issue, as I have tried various other fonts, with the same problem accuring (it does, however, occur at different places when other fonts are used... in other words, the same issue occurs, just at different places in the roll)

Anyone else had this issue and how do I workaround it?

Need advice on importing MXF video files from XDCam deck into Xpress Studio HD

I have been transferring raw MXF files from a Sony XDCam HD deck (VTR 233), and the transfer is now stalling and giving me error messages. The transferred footage will not import into the Xopress Studio HD. Anyone have any experience capturing or importing from the XDCam Deck?

Dongle updater question

Hi everyone,

I bought Avid Xpress Studio Essentials some time ago and have left in the box because my earlier XpressPro 4.3.5 was working fine and I didn't want to fork over the money for the computer upgrade.

Still with the same computer system today, but recently I had a need for audio editing and managed to install ProTools from the Studio disc and got it working.

But now I have a need for the Avid/Sonic DVD on the same computer. It installs without a hitch, but when I try to run it I get the message "your dongle is not authorized to run this software" or something like that. Of course, that makes sense because I never updated the dongle to Studio.

Well, I still don't want to install the Avid Xpress part of Studio becase I don't think my computer is up to it. But I think I can run Avid DVD and so the question is:

"If I update my dongle to Studio Essentials so I can install Avid DVD, will that prevent me from continuing to use my old Xpress Pro 4.3.5?"

I am new to the world of DVD authoring and DV original. I am on a Mac-based Xpress Pro.
My show was shot in DV 16:9.
I export a QT (again 16:9) and import it into iDVD, also 16:9. My perfectly proportioned titles squeeze and all the cowboys get skinny. I know it's in the QT...
I have experimented with every export setting combination.
The QT looks right and I bring it into iDVD.
The result I get is a pillerboxed anamorphic image in the 16:9 iDVD window...

I tried squeezing it back down with a matte on a 4:3 field, but the client does not want a floating letterbox with very little vertical frame size, and they prefer cut off on the sides if they can fill the frame top to bottom..
I see other posts with related issues; but different scenarios, so, sorry if you all are tired of this topic.
The piece is short and I am not worried about file size.
I just bought my own Avid and did not cave in to FCP. But my director is saying "Well, my iMovie was so much better... and easier." and I need a good answer fast.
Any friend out there who can walk me through this? I would Fed-x cold Champagne... it's in the fridge,...

Need Help Quick - Protools 7 constrain

I've been using protools 6.x (whatever we had to use for the old version of studio) and have been working on 'old' projects since upgrading - on a PC

I need to be able to move tracks up and down without them slipping left or right - that used to be 'right mouse click' but now that's some kind of 'hotkey' thing. How do I constrain tracks from changing in time when using the grabber tool???

Using Pro tools to create a "professional" like quality cd

I'm really talking about remastering music, I'm actually talking about be able to create a CD where the exchange between tracks is seemless. I have each song in its own track and I have positioned them so that when the first song ends the next song starts and I edited in between the tracks so there isn't a rough ending and even in parts where the end of the first track fades out with the next track fading in eliminating any dead noise. When I bounce to disk the whole session is saved to one wav file.

does pro tools allow to create such a disk or am I stuck with the dead space. i'm not really too sure if I explained that right, nor am I sure I know exactly how to form this question. I'm just trying to create a CD that sounds as if the tracks blend into each other better than if I just burned them as is.

What does this error mean? How do I fix it?

I get the error when I'm burning a volume. After all the transcoding is done and it gets ready to write the files I get the "end of file" error.

Avid DVD - Simulation screen not appearing

Very strange situation happening. Got a new laptop and loaded Avid MC and the Studio toolkit (Sonic V6.0) Was using it with normal expected results. All of a sudden when I do a simulate, the simulate monitor does not appear. It is playing because you hear audio and the menus are grayed out. F9 gives the full screen display and again lets me access menu. Weird.

I partially suspect, that when I changed the way the second monitor was positioned using desktop/properties/settings and positioned monitor 2 above 1 (which by the way, Avid will not work that way) it messed up the display, but have since positioned monitor 2 to the right of 1 so it should work again.

Anyone ever seen this?

Avid Mojo - Switch to go from PAL to NTSC?

I just purchased a used Avid Mojo. I don't know the model number, but it's not the SDI one, but the one that was from 3-4 years back or so. I am trying to use it with Avid Express Pro 5.1.3, but when I play back something on the Avid timeline, all I see on the TV monitor is very warbled, black and white fuzz. If I look very closely, I can see a little bit of the picture, but it's pretty well completely messed up on the TV monitor that the Mojo is outputting to. I did all the obvious troubleshooting things such as restarting the computer, re-installing Mojo drivers, re-installing Avid, checking the connections, etc.

I just asked the person from whom I bought this from and she said it sounds like the Mojo is switched on to PAL and that there is an easy way to switch it to NTSC from within Avid. Does anyone know anything about such a switch? I couldn't find it. Also, any other suggestions on how to get this to work?

It started a while ago, that everytime I right click on something on the desktop, both screens go blank for about one and a half seconds and then come back again.

I seem to remember something in the NVidia control panel rectifies this, but can't find it anywhere.

Any help appreciated anyone.

Avid FX crashing when previewing with audio

My Avid FX is crashing when I choose any preview with audio, but works ok without audio. Anybody else been having the same issue?

The error message seems to indicate that it might be related to quicktime, perhaps the latest Quicktime 7.6 is causing it? I will try to find an older version of Quicktime, since Avid FX was running healthy before.
