Any proof you mighthave that what you are saying is true ? because I have always been told by technicians that in NTSC "upper field " is that correct way.

I'm not arguing about the technical spec of each format, that's beyond question. If you're unsure, search it.

I'm talking about DS 10.1 presets interpretation of fields....

Does the DS mean Upper or Lower when using the term "even"?

On this version of DS I am using here, the PAL preset is set to "even".

Being PAL, "even" should mean "upper", as PAL video sources and displays are all upper field dominace, except DV which is lower.

Avid MC and myself and I thought everyone else, have always desribed "upper field" as "odd".

If it means "upper", fine, then there's another reason why on PAL mp2 encoding, i'm having to reverse the dominace like I would for a dv source. ie "lower"....

Re: Default Field Order

Any proof you mighthave that what you are saying is true ? because I have always been told by technicians that in NTSC "upper field " is that correct way.

Default Field Order

Using 10.1

Why do the default PAL/NTSC presets have the fields the wrong way round?

PAL is set to even (lower) and NTSC is set to odd (upper), clearly the wrong way round.

A custom setting removes realtime, not good.

Also no SD progressive presets, it not always a SD tape/dvd finish you know.
