You are much better off contacting Avid Support via the phone hotline or the Ask a Question web form, and joining a V.I.E CAB file (check the Avid DS Support Console > Utilities Information for details) so they can inspect your system configuration.

This is not at all a common or a known issue with the HP xw8600...

DS crashes and hangs

Greetings all,

I have posted this item on DS list earlier, but i'm hoping i'll find a reply from here as well.

I have the same problem with the new system we have. At times it works
ok, but I have noticed the SICORE Engine issue from day one , the
system hangs and a restart is always the solution.I ignored it because
it was just a small project.
Lately, just dragging or cutting a clip on the timeline triggers a
system hang, What's more... i encountered that importing a .tga
sequence stops the system from responding. I tried converting the file
to avi and a quicktime file- same thing happens.
Even deleting an audio track elicits the same restart sequence only to
find that same problem once again. In addition to all these, upon
playback the sytem generated an awfully loud noise that cannot be
turned off even with the mute buttons.

I shut down the system for two days (weekend) and upon my return... i
was able to delete the problem track and drag clips again onto the
timeline, my worry is - this might just be a temporary reprieve. Does
anybody know a solution to this?
This has happened not just once. And the problem seem to get more
complicated as it comes back.

Thank you in advance,

best regards,
