The speed is awsome ! Well done and thank you.
I ran installed/ran build.4 and found one bug... and one annoyance.
Your terrific software found 124 media files from an old project. I wanted to delete these files. I selected one media file (in the right hand window) and then did CRTL+A to select all... then I did f8 (delete). The software immediately quit, and the "inform Microsoft of this problem... send/ cancel" window came up.
I re-launched the app.... only selected about 30 files to delete at a time and it worked very well. Could there be a limit on the number of files one can select (to delete) at a time ?
I also noticed that when you delete media files, the secondary window appears "are you sure you want to delete... etc" appears... which is great. But, when the "delete" is done and you are back to the original media-tool-window the media files names are still displayed on the right-hand side colums. The file are actually deleted, but the display shows the file names, instead of having an empty window (because the files are deleted). You have to select another project, then re-select your just-deleted project. , the files are gone. The first time I deleted files I thought the software did not actually delete the files... but it did. It's only a display-refresh thing.
Terrific software.. well done. Can we send you a donation for all your hard work ?
Merci beaucoup
Michel
Hey there,
I just downloaded version 0.4 last night after reading all 8 pages of this thread. First of all this powerful tool has not disappointed so let em join the throngs of others who have said many thanks to the creator.
Okay so my question,
According to my understanding a "pre-compute" is anything that Avid makes from your sequence; renders, mixdowns, and so on. IF I'm correct in that I wonder if there's a way to distinguish Mixdowns from the other pre-computes. I don't even mean necessarily to have the software do it for me, but can I read the file names and find some abbreviation or something that will tell me this is a mixdown and this is an effect render? Of course, if there is a button that will do this in MDV automatically then I'd be happy to know about that as well.
Thanks all,
Jonny
Jonny:A mixdown, either video or audio, is not a pre-compute. It is a newly created master clip that is the entire contents of your sequence in a single layer standard clip. Pre-computes are rendered effects files, title clips, and imported matte key clips.

Hi,
a mixdown is NOT a precompute. A mixdown is an new media file generated from the video and the effects etc you have on the timeline. Mixdowns have their own masterclip in a bin in your project. With that masterclip you can find your media files.

Thanks, I did notice last night that when I selected the precomputes there were some files that were not selected and said they were mixdowns, so it's nice to have your clarification.
found this free tool also very helpfull but found a bug, that is driving me crazy.
Some GB of my Mediafiles are listed as "unreferenced files" , it seems that the scanprocess could not identify to which project the files belongs to. In this unref.-folder are precomputes and complete media files. Could not rebuild this effect or found out a "system" or reason why. But I found out that, if you are sharing mediafiles from different projects in a new one, than this bug comes out.
I checked also the trial version of the old MediaMover - and it works perfect for this case.
I love freeware but anywhere must be a hook.....
Best Regards
Robert - from Munich

In that case, I would consolidate any "borrowed" media into the new project, so that it is linked to the new project.
