I just built a new system and Avid is giving me the blues. Can someone please give me some direction for my travels to and fro through this darkness into some light?
3.1ghz i5 quad core 2400
8GB 1333mhz DDR3 ram
Quadro FX 1700

22" Vizio 1080p LCD-LED
300GB 10,000rpm system drive
Logitec surround system
I'm test driving Media Composer and Pro Tools LE. I have watched Media Composer run great on lesser machines than this and mine won't capture, it won't play footage from older projects...
Is there a certain driver I should have on the machine for the Quadro I have or something?
"... and Avid is giving me the blues ..."
"Blues" is not a valid symptom. Can you be more specific?
The driver you need was detailed in the ReadMe file that accompanied your software. Avid has placed the nVidia installers in the folder:
"There are few technological barriers. You can fix almost anything if you throw enough money at it."*******************************Randall L. Rike, ACI, ACSR Mac*Win*Unity*ISIS*DSSystems Engineer @ BET Networks [a Viacom company](wwld)
As previously posted more info would def be helpful here, but along the general lines you should make sure you have the proper video driver and quicktime version installed. The video driver is included in the utilities folder and is 190.38. The quicktime version should be 7.6.6.
Give some more details on what's going on and I'll bet you get more detailed help... :-)
Best of luck to you!
A more specific and descriptive Subject Line will get more attention as well. E.g., "Audio plays, video is frozen".
QuickTime should be 7.6.8 on MC 5.5.1 if I recall.
I stand corrected: QT has to be 7.6.9, there was wrong info in the readme, Avid is updating the document...
OK. I've been poking at it and can describe the problem. At first, it was the MBox being plugged into a 3.0 USB port that the manufacturer says will support a 2.0 device. It doesn't. I changed the port and it worked fine. Then, I loaded the nVidia driver and everything was fine. For some reason, now I'm getting "The program can't start because StreamManager.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."
How do I repair this without having to do a totally clean, meaning an OS, reinstall? Avid will not totally uninstall. The only way I can get a clean reinstall of Avid is to strip the whole system down and I've done it four times in the last two days.
I have the same problem with some audio plugins. If I uninstall this plugins then MC6 works fine -- not sure why these audio plugins would cause MC6 to have this error.
