AMA and capture in the same project

I know it is not possible to work in AMA mode and proxy import/batch import mode simultnesously without deselecting the AMA functionality and restarting MC 5.0

    BUT

Can one mix footage accessed via AMA (say sony ex1 material PAL) and footage brought into the same project via the capture tool (sdi) from for example an pdw xdcam 1500 player PAL without having to select/deselect the AMA functionality or restart the software (MC 5.0)

Mac Pro, 10.6.6, 6 core Intel Xeon, 3,33 Ghz, ATI Radeon HD 5770, Avid MC 5.5.2.1, Nitris, 32-bit

Yes. edit : After thought DO NOT leave a disk in or put an XD disk in the XDCAM deck (or U1 drive) whilst you are in AMA mode. (Got to love to hate some automatic actions)

But you can easily work with proxies, once imported with AMA turned off, in AMA mode. Then when you need to upres the proxies you can turn AMA off, restart Avid select all the proxie clips (Have your sequence bin in a view with show referenced clips turned on and sort so you can identify the proxie clips, Batch import at full res. Turn AMA on and restart Avid.

But if your xdcam is only connected in the old fashion way (sdi in) and not via firewire then I assume it would not matter if you inserted a disk.
