Do the project's settings match the camera/deck/tape settings as for frame rate and size? Are You running the default Win 7 firewire driver or the legacy ones? The DIO error is a Digital Input Output error, it could be anything from faulty cables to wrong settings, driver conflicts, hadware failures, if You search the forum for the error message You'll find plenty of info and potential fixes.

Anyone? Major capture error? Video waiting to be worked sitting on a tape here. Nothing is wrong with my HDV device. What's up Avid? Support?
You didn't answer the questions in my previous post, did You search the forum for the error message? What is an nVidia GeForce FX 1800 card? If You're not running a qualified card that could be the source of the problem. And what about nVidia driver and QuickTime? Are they on the recommended versions? You may also want to check the MC 5.0.3 readme and the patch 7r readme to see if MC 5.0.3.7r fixes some capture problems, which going by memory I believe it does. And if You do update MC and are on a software license don't forget to deactivate MC before uninstalling.
I did search for the error message, and didn't find anything that helped.An nVidia GeForce FX 1800 card is a higher-end AVID and Quicktime compatible video card. They are set to recommended versions.I spoke with a rep at AVID at the end of December b/c of this issue and he was able to guide me through fixing it, but whatever he had me do, I can't recall, and the same error message is popping up.I have uploaded about 35 hours of footage with this camera previously with all the same settings and have no idea why all of a sudden I'm getting this issue.
@luca
I don't believe that Quadro's are only compatible with MC.
But that's me. We have discuss this enough times.
But how a viewing device can affect capturing.
MC has had always problems with HDV.

Sean, just want to make sure that you know that these Forums are not official Avid tech support. We are editors just like you all over the world who voluntarily try to help other users. If you feel you need tech support, you should call 1-800-800-2843 to get a case started. If you have the top level assurance contract, you have access to 24/7 tech support.

AndrewAction: sverkalo:MC has had always problems with HDV.For me HDV has always been overly sensitive to camera / deck settings (especially those that can do DV and HDV) then further compounded by the need to get the capture project settings absolutely right for the incoming media format.
Yes, this is better than what I wrote which was more general.
Here's what you'll find on the Avid Knowledge Base regarding DIO errors.
luca.mg:Do the project's settings match the camera/deck/tape settings as for frame rate and size?
The nVidia card it's either a Quadro FX or a GeForce: it's two different product lines, Avid only supports Quadro FX cards, other cards may or may not work, and George, yes the wrong video card or driver may affect capture as the incoming video has to be displayed in the composer monitor; this is very likely an I/O error, as I wrote in my first reply, probably due to a project and camera/deck settings mismatch, but when troubleshooting all of the hypothesis have to be taken into consideration.
