Email setting in Avid not working.

So I've set up my email details in the email settings in MC5. I can successfully do 'test emails' but when it comes to sending me an email when I render something, nothing happens. The render complete box is ticked. I've applied a small colour correction to multiple clips in a 10 sec sequence, when I render it, no email. Any ideas?

Re: Email setting in Avid not working.

In my experience it only sends emails when it's finished rendering an effect on the timeline and not when it's done consolidating/transcoding or mixdowns. Usually effect renders are fast so to me it would be more useful if I knew when a mixdown was done and I need to get back to the suite...

As to why it's not sending...not sure...!

Re: Email setting in Avid not working.

I know this is an old post but I had issues getting emails to send as well in the latest version for 2017, 8.8.4, with a Gmail account. Then I realised I have two-factor authentication ON in my gmail, which means putting in a one time passcode from my authentication app or a received SMS. Avid doesn't have this feature and I remembered Google allows you to create "App specific passwords" which you can generate from the security & sign in secrion of your Google account settings.

After generating an app specific password for MC, and using this instead of my general gmail password in the email settings in MC, my email works perfectly!

With alerts to my inbox, now I can dial in on teamviewer drom home and kick off the other round of transcodes without having to check in every so often. I hope this helps anyone with a Gmail account, although a lot of other providers now do the same re: app specific passwords, including iCloud, so it may be a workaround for you too.
