    BFX API Error when rendering.

I just finished making a small Avid FX sequence and now I am trying to render it in xpress. When I try to render it, I get this message. ( I included a dile attachment) I have plenty of space on all of my harddrives! I tried to reboot but it didn't help. Any ideas?

In Boris Red, under prefs, there is an option to turn off multi-procs...  if it's there in avid fx try that.  This was a tip given to me from the techs at Boris that works everytime.

Long shot but is the drive where it is installed on big enough? It might be the app trying to render to a temp directory as on the system drive and that might not be big enough.. as said.. long shot :)

Re: BFX API Error when rendering.

I have an 80 Gig system drive.

It is only half full. Is this not sufficient?

Is there any way to tweak AFX or Avid setting?

    Thanks

what kind of effect are you using?  what filters inside Avid Fx? what kind of Media inside Avid FX?

I get this message in boris red when I'm using a still image file in boris that is too large (usually over 3000 pixels by 3000 pixels). For me, I just scale down the still image in photoshop and redo the effect. then it renders fine.

Re: BFX API Error when rendering.

    thanks.

I don't have anything beyond 3k pix. in fact everything is generated within AFX. It's a bunch of animated text layers, blur, & lighting.

I'm trying to optimize my (PC) system by setting it to best performance. I'm also defragging my system & media drives.

    Any other ideas?

Don't defrag you media drive. They work better fragmented. you can get into lot's of problems defragging the media drives.

try turning off the blurs and lighting effects and trying the render again. if it works, then turn things on one at a time until you find the problem. you may have just too many effects or lights, or blurs for the effect to handle.

Re: BFX API Error when rendering.

    hello,

well, after a clean reformat and a new, monster quad processors....IM STILL GETTING the BFX API Error! The effect is very simple, just an animated text (zoom).

I also have 4 Gigs of RAM now and my 80 Gig system drive is only 25% occupied.

    What's wrong? PLease!
