    Deleting an already freed object

I sometimes get the following error in one of my projects when moving (Ctrl+X or Drag) more than one clip at once on a timeline.

       Deleting an already freed object
       Object Addr:   0x26dc6024
       First 4 Bytes: 0x00000a96 'ñ

    File: ..\..\src\debug\BogusObject.c,  Line: 280

Is it worth looking at this bogusobject file? Where would i find it? A windows file search brings up nothing.

Yes I have been getting the same problem with Avid 5.

And while we're at it, why did avid change the default ctrl-x --> ctrl-v setting from insert edit to overwrite in V.5? I want insert edit 99% of the time (and so does everyone else I've talked to). Now I have to go into insert edit mode, which a redundant step.

My understanding is that CTRL X and CTRL V will default to which one of the two segment modes you have chosen as a default in your timeline "edit" settings. Check and see if your default choice there is "overwrite".

    Hey Larry,

Thanks for this. I didn't realize that.

And yet it doesn't quite solve my problem, because I almost always want overwrite tool for lasso (which I use far more often), and I almost always want insert tool for ctrl-v. Maybe there should be another timeline setting for ctrl-v, or maybe ctrl-v should not be affected by default segment tools...

Basically ctrl-v should work exactly like it does in MS Word, where you don't want it randomly copying over your work :)

Re: Deleting an already freed object

hey guys - you've answered the "BTW" - what about the "deleting an already freed object" error :-(

I get it when I use the delete button to delete a clip.

I'm also getting an exception "PGLUE impolite port number" at seemingly random points

    I'm using MC 5.0.4

This is urgent - I have to finish the project this week - how do I escalate it to the development team ?

Re: Deleting an already freed object

Does anyone know of a solution to this.  I am trying to help an editor out that is getting this fairly frequently.  Can't seem to locate any corrupt media, and the links in the previous sequence don't seem to be active anymore.  Tried trashing all settings, created a new user a little while ago and monitoring the situation.  Happens whenever he lassos a section and hits CTRL X.

    thanks very much.
