I may be getting ahead of Media Composer development, but, I was under the impression that MC5 would be able to directly open Cineform files via AMA. In fact, neither avi wrapped nor mov wrapped cineform files are recognized when trying to link via AMA. My platform is a PC, so, I don't expect native mov(Mac formatted) files to link via AMA.
Does anyone know if Cineform avi files can be linked via AMA on MC5?

My impression is that if QT Player can play it AMA can Access it. I was able to link to all sorts of .MOV files couldn't say about Cineform though as I haven't tried it.

Thanx! I was finally able to import a Cineform file via AMA, so I now know this works. Bringing the file into MC5, however, produced a double image in the source monitor. I'm exploring why this happened.
Can you post a screenshot ?

I am using NEO 4k also and just installed MC5.
The cineform avi's I have import fine but I am also getting the double clip in one clip.
I wrote cineform about it but maybe Avid has an idea too.
Attached is a screenshot of the issue.

Simon,
I beleive I found the answer to our problem. You need to open a file in FirstLight. This will let you aaccess the radio check buttons under the display in FirstLight. Then UNCHECK the 3D Corrections button. Then, reopen avid. After doing this, my double image disappeared and became one.
Ah okay!
Good work!
But that means I have to change that for EVERY clip?
:(
But I appreciate the workaround.
thanks,

I tried it but no luck.
I unchecked the button for 3d correction.
Close First Light and Avid and then reopened AVid but I still get the double image.
'wow...now I am confused because the double frame image is now working ok. I don't know why. Perhaps it's one of the other radio buttons. I unchecked them ALL. Have you tried unchecking all of them?
I FIGURED IT OUT!!!!
By the way, I've been following this forum all day with the same problem!
It's the reslution button -- I'm having no problems after changing it to full res. But low or half res is a problem.
Check it out and post back your results!

Still no luck.
I tried the resolution trick. It took the split screen to a bizarre mix. See screen shot.
Could you guys provide a snapshot of what you have in firstlight?
I had that too -- then I changed the format around and color space until it cleared out.
Sorry the resolution fix didn't work.
I wrote cineform but no word yet.
It is not urgent right now but it will be in a few weeks. I hope we can find a fix soon.

Originally the files are from my HMC-150 (1080 - 30p (29.97)).
I used HD link to convert them to cineform .avi's.
I realize now that AVCHD files can be imported to DNxHD files in AVid starting with MC5.
But before I was using PPCS3/PPCS4 so I had converted all my files to cineform.
