    Importing Canon 7D quicktimes

    Hello,

I am trying to import some canon 7D quicktimes rushes into Media Composer, but immediately receive the following error messages:

'An unexpected error occurred while importing the Quicktime audio tracks. The imported audio tracks may be unusable. Would you like to continue import?'

On clicking continue I then receive this error message:

'Exception:   std::exception, what:"Bus error" in thread "Adopted Thread", at address 0 x 0'.

If anyone has any ideas what I may be doing wrong or how I can get the files into MC, it would be a great help!

    Thanks,

    Danny

    Danny:

Welcome to the forums.  It is always helpful to provide your system specs when asking a question, so we know how to help you.  Please provide your hardware, OS, QT, and MC version you are using.  Either update your profile with the specs or include them in this thread.

Also, what kind of project are you using?  Is the footage 30p or 24p?

    Re: Importing Canon 7D quicktimes

    Thanks Kevin,

I have updated my profile with the specs of my system. I am running this: Mac Pro; Snow Leopard 10.6.2; Media Composer v.4.0.4; QT X and 7.

    My project is set to 1080p/ 23.976. My 7D quicktimes are 1920 x 1080 23.98p H.264.

    Thanks for you quick response.

I just had a project with 5D footage (24 fps) on 10.5.8 with audio on them and didn't have any issues importing.

What version of QT 7 are you running?  You should be 7.6.4, even though I think 7.6.6 is out there.

Do you have QT Pro?  Can you try stripping the audio out of the QT and see if you can import that?

    Re: Importing Canon 7D quicktimes

It works now, the only thing I did differently is import it into a new bin. Before I was trying to import it into a bin containing P2 DVCPRO HD material as all the rushes for this particular interview are from different sources.

I have brought it in on a resolution of DNxHD 175 x and seems to be looking good.

    Thanks for your help Kevin,

    Danny
