it dont know why anyone dident write a tutorial to IMPORT file ( any file ). ts no even in the 101 basic tutorial
i have a video taken from my webcam 640 x 480 wmv . i have tryed to SQUEEZ it. it just dont work !
i have watch the video tutorial in the forum , and the guy dident explain how the file format works. do we have to change the video resolution when importing have a video - 1:1 mxf , DV 25 ? or what ??
i have done .mpeg . mov .avi and the reste....it just wont import ....i always have a error message. i have upgrade the quick time codec to 7.0
its so easy to explain ....very simplely.
Most WMVs import natively into the Avid. Have you tried importing the file? If so, what happens?
What version of the MC software do you use...?
In agreement, Unity. In Disagreement, Discussion. In all things, Charity.
thank you for taking time with me sir. i would happely let you connect to my computer remotely if you like ....i dont know your email ....but here mine quebec776@hotmail.com. i can also send u sreenshots ...
i really dont know what iam doing wrong...i have read and read ...like crazy ....and hunt for solution in the web...
here what ive done :
i have a video taken from my webcam.....when i cheq the properties it say - 15 frames per second in 640 x 480 in .wmv
like the guy on the video on your forum explain how to SQUEZZ a video , cause amc dosent like .avi
so to avoid error messages when importing , he suggest to SQUEZZ it . but he dosent explain what video resolution i should select when importing - 1:1 dv 25....mpeg 30 mxf ?
i have update quiktime to 7.3. someting cause avid media composer 3.5.1 gave me a error message that quiktime wasent right ( 6.4.5)
i keep on trying and trying....i shurly can do all the reste...
Anyone have aspirine ? or tylenol ?
thanks...
mike...
ok thank you all. Fred Mulvey of Los Angeles Avid Liquid User Group ( LA PLUG) help me out !
ill save on aspirin and tylenol....:)
OK my friend...Here's the easiest way to get those files to import into MC short of installing Liquid 7.2 on your system...Download/Install freeware MPEG Streamclip www.squared5.com load in your files and "export to QuickTime" which yields a MC importable .mov file. If you want to keep file sizes manageable, I recommend using the MJPEG-A setting at 50% Quality. i.e. a 1GB .vob becomes a 2GB .mov...On the other hand, the "fast import" Avid codecs produce HUGE file sizes although they look GREAT! Good luck!
it worked ! Thank you very much all. AVID community is very helpful. !
I need to convert .mpg files for avid and found this old post.
I downloaded MPEG Streamclip but it tell me tht I need to unistall Quick time completly aand then istall Quick Time Alternative 1.81, or to buy the MPEG-2 Playback Componet from Apple
Can I change the quick timev version without messing up MC ?
Will buying the Apple plugin work ?
I see that I can export to various Avid Codecs - DNxHD, meridian Uncompressed, DV100, DV, MPEG2 50mbit, RGB Packed and others - will these give me better quality than the MJPEG-A mentioned above ?
What other options can you suggest ?
Thanks
Yonatan
You should stick to the version of QT that is qualified for your version of Avid MC. See the Avid Version Matrix.
Adding the MPEG QT Component should work, AFAIK, as it adds the QT MPEG2 decoder to QT, which is what StreamClip then uses.
But do you have Sorensen Squeeze? It is included with MC these days. That should allow you to convert MPG/AVI/WMV into Avid compatible Quicktime files. Squeeze 8.5 Pro even allows the creation of Avid MXF mediafiles, IIRC.
