Hi all, I'm using MC4.03 on a Dual Quad Mac and it's working just fine but...one annoying niggle remains from previous versions of MC and it seems to only happen on Macs (I use PC version of MC 2.8 on a server as well). When I open Colour Correct from the timeline the viewers, the timeline and the CC tool window get pushed halfway across onto the second monitor. I have to reposition and resize the windows back onto my main widescreen Apple cinema display. If I save the corrected display setup to a workspace but it looses the CC tool! No amount of fiddling will allow me to save the correct setup. Is this a bug or is it my display setup? How do I change the way MC uses the monitors?
What I have been able to do is save the correct screen display to the Toolset dropdown presets so that "CC" opens the correct setup but I'm still unable to save it to a workspace...
Any help gratefully accepted!
MC
Do you have the same resolution setting on both monitor? Have you tried deleting MC State and Site Settings and trying a new user setting?

Thanks Silverio, you're probably right, the odd formating is probably caused by the two monitors being different - one's a 23" cinema dispaly the other's a 19" 4:3 Samsung multisync...setting the same res on both could be difficult, interestingly the system defaults to setting the viewers and the timeline on the 4:3 screen in fact, not what I want. I'll try wiping the Site settings and see how the workspace saves. Thanks.
Varying resolution is the cause of it - I am 90% sure. The app gets confused how to map the sub windows.
Changing the resolution doesn't really change the behaviour of the Workspace tool Dom. The system still wants to use the secondary monitor to display the Composer...Where are the Site and State settings on the Mac?
Site settings is in OS X Shared User folder.
Which is your primary monitor (the one with the main tool bar) left or right?
I've changed to an alternative user profile and altered the res of the large display but no change. If I use the Toolset dropdown to select CC or Source Record view everything works okay once the main display is manually setup for each function. Saving the setup sticks and can be selected using the toolset menu. If I return to the default screen though the top menu bar still stays on the Cinema display but the Composer and Timeline jumps to the Samsung display...
I have the same problem. Windows management in Avid is a disaster. I always wonder why some windows are always on top, even when the window is not active. There doesn't seem to be any logic is this behavior.
I've never seen this misbehaviour on Windows systems which is curious since Avid MC was originally built on a Power PC Mac platform and I've since seen MC2.x working well on G4s and G5s. The work around is to save the setups using the TOOLSET drop down and then use it to select CC rather than the button on the bottom tool bar. I'm still curious as to why this is a problem and for how many Mac users. Another curious behaviour which seems to have appeared with MC3.5 (I think) is that when you temporarily leave MC to open another application (leaving MC running) the MC menu refuses to reappear until you close ALL other apps and sometimes even then you can't access the menu functions. Other actions work (right clicking, playing clips etc) but MC refuses to become fully active, you have to quit and restart the app. It seems slightly better on MC4.
Is this an Apple bug or an Avid one???
Have the same problem on a Mac Pro 8 core running MC 4.0.2. Never have to restart the app, but the toolset windows never retain my saved settings.
Media Composer 4.0.3, Mojo, Mac Pro 8 core (2) 3.2GHz harpertown. 6gigs, NVIDIA 8800, P2 workflow.
