I have a project that was shot at 1920x1080. In Media Composer I have set the format to 1280x720 (720p), but when I send a Quicktime Reference to Squeeze it's still 1920x1080. I'm trying to send out a full Quicktime movie, but so far Avid is choking on that.
When I try to process the 1920x1080 movie in Squeeze it takes forever to complete, if it completes at all. It's taken about 3 days to process a little less than a 2 hour movie. So, I would like to try sending a 1280x720 file to squeeze and see if that will speed up the process.
Using Media Composer 3.5.4.
Any help is appreciated!
Clay
If you're going from 1080i to 720p you're de-interlacing in the process. This is likely what is adding time to the Export/Encode.

I have deinterlacing off in Squeeze. My latestest attempt got about half way in Squeeze and the program seemed to hang, so I'm having to start over.
I just got Avid to create a full Quicktime file, and it is indeed 1280x720, so that issue may be solved. My guess is that a reference movie can't be reformatted because the video material is still as it was captured, and the only way to reformat is to 're-write' the data in the desired format. Is that a correct assumption?
But now I can't determine the proper setting to make a 16x9 DVD that will display with letterbox on a 4x3 television, and also without letterbox on a 16x9 display. I've made another post about that question.
Thanks!
Tell Squeeze that the input media is 16:9, and that you want a 16:9 MP2 file. Any DVD player firmware will take care of the rest after you burn the disk.
In Squeeze 5 I used the DVD 16x9 preset. I think I had selected "unconstrained" for the aspect ratio policy, which may have been a mistake. I made a new one choosing "Letterbox or Pillar". I'll see what happens with that one.
