    AMA XDCAM offline footage

I've linked my XDCAM footage into a project in MC, but it's saying that it's offline even though the files are definitely still there.  Any thoughts?

    Thanks!

Have you remounted the volume in AMA?

If you want your files to stay on line without the AMA volume mounted, you must first consolidate the media files into the Avid environment.

    Re: AMA XDCAM offline footage

But I never unmounted the AMA volume.  This is what I did.  I received on of those disc-sized cartridges with XDCAM footage.  I copied every file from there onto a workspace on our unity.  Then I linked to AMA volume in the avid project and it linked everything but it showed up as offline.  I think that's weird because the files are still sitting there on the unity workspace.  Also, I have a bit more info since I first wrote the original post.  I know this footage is PAL (I usually work in NTSC because I'm in America).  I've tried linking this footage in both PAL and NTSC projects, HD and SD.  Using Sony's clip browser program, I can see the files but each thumbnail just shows up with an "X."  I can't see the footage but I can tell that the footage is PAL, 50i, 720x576.  Any more thoughts?

    Thanks!

    Re: AMA XDCAM offline footage

If these are XDCAM HD files from Sony Optical disc you do not (can not use) need to use Sony Clip Browser. These files should show up as a virtual volume when you plug in the disc device. XDCAM HD files are different than Sony XDCAM EX files.

You don't copy the files to a to a workspace, you have to consolidate (or transcode) the media to the Avid media drive.

You don't have any system specs, so I'm not sure how else to help.

(System #1)HP 8200,dual 3.4,quadro 1400, 2gb ram, 160gb boot drive, 250gb Sata internal, Avid MC 3.0, Caldigit HD Element 4TB Raid Array w/ Raid Card ... [view my complete system specs]
