unlock all tracks with one command

    Greetings,

I am trying to help one of our editors out by finding if it is possible to unlock all tracks with one command without having to manually select the currently locked ones.  Say he has 10 locked and 5 unlocked he has to select those 10 tracks first and then unlock them. Is there just one keyboard command to unlock any locked track?  I could not find anything in the manual.

    Thanks.

Are you referring to sync locks? If so, the sync lock next to the TC track locks and unlocks all of the tracks.

Sorry, I had to stick my nose in on this.  For what it's worth (and for the past 14+ years, it hasn't been worth anything), I've asked Avid for the ability to toggle the sync lock feature on the TC track without the use of the mouse.  That is, to be able to make it assignable to the keyboard, like just about every other feature.  I can't believe I'm the only one who would use this 150 times a day.

There, I feel better now.  Although I'd feel even better if I could turn sync lock on and off thru my keyboard...

    I have to agree.

After many years of never ever using sync locks I find myself working with another who turns all sync locks on for absolutely everything (even to just play one of my timelines).  So a simple keystroke to restore my timelines would be greatly appreciated.    Big Smile

Ok double tapping the mouse on the TC track aint really that arduous.  Geeked

Thanks for the continued dongle support

Re: unlock all tracks with one command

All this stuff about Sync Locks is great, but I think the OP is asking about Lock/Unlock Tracks.  Which has to be done one at a time as far as I'm aware.  Would be nice to have that area of the code cleaned up a little.

One of my all time annoyances with Lock Tracks:

Say I lock V3, then I select all tracks and want to do an Add Edit on all tracks (except V3 obviously)... one would think that all existing and active tracks except V3 would have an Add Edit.  Instead, you get a nice dialogue that pops up and says:  Cannot Edit a Read-Only Track or something similar.  Thanks... I already know that and I'm not trying to edit the Read Only Track.  I want to edit all of the others.

So, what must I do?  I have to de-select the track that I have locked.  Well isn't that just freakin' genius?  Hey check it out, ma!  If I disable the track then the action that I'm trying to perform on the other tracks won't apply to the "locked"/unselected track.

In my mind, Locking the track should act as a safety, if you select all tracks or inadvertantly select a Locked track, the Locks should override the track selection and just not allow you to make a change.  Otherwise, I'd just de-select the track each time.
