    Blueray burner halting Avid start-up

After I installed a Blue Ray burner to my system, Media Composer failed to start and I received an error messages. If I unplug the drive (internal) Media Composer starts right up. Any idea on how I get around this problem?

In my HP xw8400 I have 4 hard drives, 1 DVD writer & 1 Blue Ray writer. I had no problem until this drive was installed.

    Many thanks, Leo

What brand of Drive? SATA? What software did you install at the same time as the drive?

FWIW LG Blu Ray burner has no problems here with Avid on an 8600 with XP SP3 or Vista 64.

Thanks for the continued dongle support

    Thank you...

The drive is a Pioneer BDR-205-SATA.

The software was just a player which is easy to remove. I thought I'd swap some drive posistions on my motherboard, but I doubt that's causing the error. As soon as I remove the drive MC loads right up.

I had trouble with a Blu Ray here when I tried installing it in an 8200 using a PCI SATA card.   I find the HP BIOS setup for SATA and boot order a Regal PIA to get right. Good news is when you succeed it works like a charm.

From memory there is a PDF in the Avid Knowledge Base with the recommended slots for cards and SATA connections for the 8400.

Thanks for the continued dongle support

I moved all the drives to differnt SATA ports on the Motherboard, no change. I'm getting stalled when MC tries to load MEDIA ACCESS VOLUME MANAGER, then I get the errors.

with the burner unplugged, select the media drives you are using, MC is trying to create a media drive on your bd burner
