Hi All,

I am looking to purchase one of the new 27" iMacs and run Avid MC on it....however the 27" iMac's only come with an ATI Radeon HD 4850 card. Any idea if Avid plan's to qualify the ATI Radeon HD 4850 in a coming release?

We havent approved the new iMac yet.....  Once we know more on how testing is going then I will post back.

now mac has possibility of quad i7 in an imac looking foorward on the reply!!!!

Why doesn't avid know about new apple systems comming out in advance so they can run test before the launch...

This must be possible, no? Can't imagin that avid would have to go the an apple shop buy an apple so that they can test it.

Add my voice to this as well. I would like to run MC Soft 4.0x on the quad core i7 imac 27 inch. I purchased it to run Adobe's suite, but would MUCH rather edit with AVID.

In a perfct world we would love that very scenario.  But....  not doable since it is not just the machine but the OS as well.  With the OS as an example, we are developers and get the drops from both the Mac side and the PC side but those drops dont always represent what actually ships at launch from say Apple or MSoft.

This is why we start testing over with the "final" releases to make sure we dont have any issues that would impact the user. 

I'll see where we are in tetsing - I know they had to circle back when 10.6.2 came out to make sure that was working....

Thanks, Marianna. It would be nice to at least know "yes this system should work once we work out Snow Leopard" or "no, this will never work with these video cards" or something like that.

George is putting the iMac thoiugh its paces and promided me a note when he is done.  As for ATI... cant give you any hope yet but they are meeting with avid today.  Thats a step in the right direction....
