Ok, had xpress pro 5.8 working seamlessly with my 002... had the mojo running off the onboard 1394 bus, and the 002 plugged into a 1394 card on differecnt pci mcia slot-  all was dandy...

then, had to go thru the dreaded reinstall of the system... got everything rebuilt and back running sans the 002... simply can not get xpress to see the box. 

am i looking past a item (or more likely a series of items) in settings that needs to be set?  it has been so long since i went thru the process-

Did you ever have Pro Tools installed as well? (if it was even possible)

hmmmm, interesting...

studio pack was on the image... comes with PT LE... just tried to fire that up, and it does come up with an error message and missing dll files etc...

probably teh root of my issue.

I think you had to choose the device somewhere in the controller settings in Avid.. not behind one but i am sure you need to set it there .. could be either Command 8 or Digi 002...

After some thought, i realized that before my reinstall i had upgraded to the latest version of studio toolkit,- to make PT LE then jive with that latest studio tool kit (& Xpress) you had to update PT LE as well...  (why these are not bundled anymore in toolkit escapes me) but

i dont know what version of PT LE is / was compatable with xpress 5.8... i see a whole bunch of different posts on the matter, and it is very hard to dissern what will go with what and not cause more issues. 

frustrating cause in effect, all i intend to do is get my 002 running with xpress again.

This is realy from the top of my head as the info went deep down in my dark voids they call brain but i think it was 6.2.1 .. dunno why i think that is it...
