    Problem re-opening projects

CPU Platform: Apple Macintosh MacPro 2 x 2.66GHz GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon

    Operating System: OSX 10.4.11

    Avid Media Composer: Version: v2.7.2

    Adrenaline HD

I recently suffered a major CPU failure and had to reinstall the Operating System and Composer software from scratch. Before doing so, I copied the Avid Projects and User folders to an external hard-drive, but now, can't seem to open any of my projects. I open the Media Composer, hit the browse button, locate the Avid Projects folder and choose the project I want to open...but it does not appear in the 'Select a Project' window. Any advice would be most welcome!

I don't know if it would make any difference, but having reinstalled all the software, the only thing that is different from my previous set-up is that, shortly after I bought the system in January 2008, I upgraded the Media Composer software from 2.7.4 to 2.8 - which was a free download at the time for all 2.7.4 purchasers. This free upgrade does not exist any longer and if I wish to upgrade now, then it has to be to Version 4.

Since media, projects and bins is so critifcal - this is the time I would call support.  You dont want to make a mistake here and having a tech walk you thorugh is the best bet.

Have you tried double clicking on the Project rather than just selecting it when you find it? (If I correctly understood the problem correctlly this works for me with the PC.)

Thanks for the continued dongle support

    Re: Problem re-opening projects

Usually, your Avid projects would be here: /Users/Shared/AvidMediaComposer/Shared Avid Projects.

But, if you're not sure, go ahead and create a new, dummy project.  Then, search for it's name in the finder, and figure out what folder it is in.  Copy your other projects to that location and you should be OK.
