I have Avid 3.5.6 on my laptop and my OS is now 10.5.8 and it wont open the software.  Any suggestions?

    Clean install...

I'm running 10.5.8 and MC 4.0.2 without any problems.

If you downloaded 10.5.8 after you had Avid installed, I'd try uninstalling and re-installing MC to see if that works.

Did you use Apple Software Update or manually download the "combo" updater.  We always recommend the latter as using Software Update for OS upgrades can be dicey.

I had tried uninstalling and reinstalling when it first happened but no luck.  And I did download from the software updater.

NEVER update your OS from the software updater... ALWAYS get the COMBO updater from the Apple site and run that.  You can, however still download the combo updater and run that even though you already updated to 10.5.8...  often times running the combo updater after a software update will repair the issue and allow you to open your Avid software normally.  try that.  also repair permissions in the drive utility once you've updated your OS (always a good idea anyway) you may have some success.
