quick question: will buyers of MC 4.0.2 get a free upgrade to Sorenson Squeeze 6 that just came out?

You would probably need to contact Sorenson for that...

I predict that it will be sooner or later included at 3rd parties as with BCC 6.

Sorenson announced today they are releasing version 6 of their software as you all are aware....  Here is the Avid scoop relating to that new version.

Avid only supports Sorenson Squeeze version 5 that is shipped with new Avid Media Composer 4 systems, physical shipping upgrade kits and the Production Suite.  Customers can choose to upgrade to Sorenson  6 based on their needs, however, Avid has not tested Sorenson 6 with Avid Media Composer and we do not have plans to do so in the immediate future.   Avid Media Composer4 units, physical shipping upgrades and the Production Suite will continue to ship with Sorenson Squeeze 5.1.

Quick question: Since squeeze is a stand-alone program, what does Avid test for in the new versions?  I'm asking because the Squeeze announcement mentioned much quicker compression times, so I am wondering if going to 6 would affect anything with the current systems.  We never use the "send to squeeze" option.

I'm looking at picking this up as well as I have other uses for squeeze beyond directly coming from AVID. For the upgrade, would the version that comes with AVID be 5 or 5 pro?

Massive speed improvments are more then welcome.
