In an Avid unity environment I made a windows share for the projects. I think it is a more sophisticated solution, because:
BUT, there is a big problem with this usage: the unity shared bin locking method is not working! :( :( So if you open a bin more than one NLE, only the first can save data in it: It seems the others correctly saved, but there is no warning message, no error, and there is no data in the bin!
Is it possibly to set manually somewhere the unity locking mechanism on my windows share? (the windows share is located on the system drive D: on my avid unity v5)
If there is no possibility to set it, I will be very sad, because I have to use the old way, Avid unity Shared volume, without the mentioned really cool features of the windows shared folder.
Please send me suggestions, opinions about this workaround!
Thank you,
Daniel
Well, there you have the biggest benefit of Avid Unity: true project & bin sharing.
This means there is no way to setup a true bin sharing, when I using Windows shared folder?
Pretty sure that only Avid Unity gives you true project & bin sharing. That is a Unity feature, the whole multiple user acces with bin locking.
