So, I finally upgraded to 4.0 and had an SD project to complete. I have a "thing"
In the past, I create all my graphics in After Effects and export as Avid 3:1Progressive. I then fast import into Avid as progressive. I would lay down my clips in the 30i timeline and all would be fine.
Now, my progressive clips automatically get a timewarp effect so that the progressive material is converted to interlaced to match the project. I do not want this to happen. Considering there is no such thing in Avid as a SD-30P project, is there any way to not have this happen?
In the end, it does edit the same, but the final exports take much more time because all the graphics clips have the effect on them.ThanksLucas
Just a thought: but why export to 3:1p in AE, and not 3:1i? Even if you render progressive images in AE, you will see no difference in the end result. You will get two fields, each representing half the resolution of the actual progressive frame. Both of them add up to the original. It's like what happens when you telecine 35mm film to PAL at 25fps, you will get 50 fields for every 25 frames of film, but these fields will each contain half the information of a full frame.
If your output is NTSC SD, you are eventually creating fields somewhere down the line. Why not in AE?
I do think you are right
