    Sony EX 1 Conform

I am working on a feature that was shot on EX 1. I have rough edit that was cut using the original files.

For ease of editing I would like to work in another file format. Remembering that I need to conform for an online

from the original files. Is there a preferred way to work from this point. For the sake of an output I transcoded the the cut

to DV 25 switching the format to 23.98 NTSC, it worked well. Will I be able to have the file information kept so that I can do

an online from this point. I do not want to reimport all footage as I will be mainly using what I have in the cut.

As long as you're using AMA, the clips can be transcoded to a different codec and they will relink back to the original media. The XDCAM EX 35Mb uses a Variable Bit Rate encode. If you look at the file size, I believe you'll see that some are actually smaller than the CBR DV 25 Media. If you need to reduce the file size, I suggest transcodeing to 14:1.

Once the media is transcoded from the AMA volumes, they should be unmounted: File > Unmount. To get the media to relink, its only a matter of using the AMA command on the original EX folders. I suggest adding a custom bin heading with information on what folder the media came from. This way you won't have to relink to all the media, only the media used in the sequence.
