Hi All
Can anuone outline or point me to an article otr thread which specifically details the moving of media from a PC media composer to a Mac Xpress pro. What is confusing me is the mxf vs omf files. I formatted fat 32 to copy the files from the PC drive and plugged into may mac but no relink.
3 important question. 1. can i drop these files into an omfi folder 2. Is it only on of these structured folders per partition. 3 is it possible to do ?
Any help would be appreciated
Mac G 5 1.8 dual 4 gig ram last version xpress pro
Thanks

Gary,
the below is written from Mac to PC but will help you just the same:

Important point here...... you are going from MC to Xpress pro. I don't know what versions you have of each but regardless of your platform, you may see issues going back to another product especially when the product has less features.
We really need to know what you are going from ( MC version?) to what version of Xpress pro?

Hi Mariann
Thanks for the article but it just doesn't address my problems. If you could be so kind as to address a couple specific questions that would be great. By the way I have Xpress pro for mac 5.8.4 I don't know what version of media composer it is.
1. In my avid (mac) I have omfi folders this PC media is mfx in a folder system I have not seen are they compatible in any way what do I do to bring in the media from the pc to the mac. Can it sit in its existing folders ?
2. Some things I read suggest opening a new profect with same parameters and copying the bins into it does this help ?
To review I stripped my drive with fat 32 on my mac then copying from the PC formatted drive and hooking up to my mac xpress pro. I then try to relink no luck so far. Any help would be appreciated.

All OMF media files go into the OMFI MediaFiles folder. All MXF files go into Avid MediaFiles/MXF/1. There can only be one instance of each folder on the root (topmost) directory of a hard disk. If the folders are not named exactly as specified and don't follow the path stated then the Avid won't see them and the files won't relink. Also, having more than 5,000 files in one folder can lead to problems. Once you copy the files, it's best to delete the 2 files that start with "msm" so the Avid can rebuild the index.
Must think of something clever to go here...
Hi Marianna,
I'm interested to read the page you refer, but it seams that "Video support center requires an active support contract", how can I do, because I don't have ?
Many thanks.

Marianna left off the leading "h" in the link. Use this:
