frame rate conversion on DS v6

HI. Am trying to work out if I can do 25fps to 30 fps conversions in HD. according to the help file I should be able to drag and drop a 25fps seq into a 30 fps seq and audio + video will automatically convert. Seems the audio isnt hapenning though. Anyone had experience?

You cannot convert a DS Sequence from a specific frame rate to another but you can bring a 25 fps clip on a 30 fps timeline, although this was not a feature in version 6 (but are you truly using that old release?).

One way to make this work is to export the 25 fps timeline to a movie file (or a sequence of files) and reimport in a 30 fps sequence using the convert frame rate option.

Thanks for the reply. the solution is as i thought, but not as the help file indicates.

Yes, the DSv6 was a typo - i'm on 8.4 at the moment.

Ha yes, I believe that there was a "C" option left-over in the documentation. Engineering tried their best to implement sequence loading accross different frame rates (as it works for Clips using the "F" key) but the task was simply too enormous considering the complexities of what a sequence can contain, i.e. containers, effects and all these things that could or might not translate properly.

At the last moment, that feature was dropped but the documentation was already delivered. This is removed from the documentation of current releases.

But you could copy and paste one framerate to another up until version 7.6 when the "F" key was introduced. I used it on a couple of films with great results. If the media was already digitized, it would link up, but would throw errors upon playback. I went through the timeline and matchframed the clip and did replace edits to solve this issue.

So for instance, a 29.97 cut was delivered, but the source was 23.98.

    Conform the 29.97 timeline

Create an edl to change to 23.98 in "EDL Processor"

Conform the new edl and capture your source.

Go back to the 29.97 timeline and copy all clips to the clipboard and paste into the 23.98 sequence.

Matchframe every clip and do a replace edit which will keep all the effects in place.
