We need to be able to promote Animatte to 3D so we can cut out/mask using Animatte, then move the entire shot, scale, rotate, etc... without our mask staying in the same place. It needs to travel with the shot. Right now I have to use 3D warp, scale, animate, etc..., then nest Animatte and keyframe it. That's just not as efficient.
Thanks.
Seconded!!!
I think a lot people would like this. It's asked for time and again.
Until then Butcher, there's the BBC Make Alpha effect. I outlined how to use it in this thread (in case you don't know).

Another vote here.
Been asking for years.
It's a shame that these established effects don't get revisited when new releases are been planned.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand. Homer (Simpson)
Completely agree!! Also it should be updated/optimized to run in real-time or near real-time. Seems to me I've got 3D warp doing Spectramatte, cropping, defocusing, tracking, scaling etc... all in real-time. Why can't animatte?
Yup, this is the main thing I send shots out to Avid FX or After Effects for and I don't think either of those programmes are as good for drawing masks as the animatte effect. So close to being brilliant!

Very interesting read there Ra-ey. I'll have to try it when I'm in front of the system tomorrow.
I use Animatte all the time and it's amazing. It just needs added functionality (and realtime would be great!).

Hey thanks Ra-ey, just checked it out and it's great, I had no idea about that effect. Thanks for the instructions too, I've use a few of the Boris effects regularly, but that one has lots of possibilities so it would have been really unintuitive without your instructions.
cheers
No worries at all guys. I'm pretty sure I first learned about it on the forum.
Campbell, you're right - it isn't the most user-friendly interface. That's why one day I actually wrote down how to use it! I'd never remember.
Still, AniMatte 'locking' would still be great!
