    Download link for Quicktime 7.3.1

Out of the blue I began 'hang' when starting Avid. There is no error message but it hangs at the point where the screen says 'initializing audio'. Only 2 things come to mind. One is Quicktime. I am not running 7.3.1 and that was what I was running when I last used this system. It was always stable with 7.3.1. The other thing that has changed is a set of windows updates. Can you point me to a link to download a stand alone version of Quicktime 7.3.1? Thank you.

System: HP 8200. All factory components with no extra hardware. Four gig of ram and windows XP pro. Avid xpress pro 5.7.2

    Thank you.

You should always have windows updates turned off. This is critical for Avid software. If nothing else has changed, I would start by using system restore to a date prior to the updates.

As far as QT, fwiw... a quick google search turned this up:

Thank you , Adman. I had gone to the CNET link you provided earlier, but it only lets you download Quicktime 7.6.4 (nothing earlier). I had hoped to remedy with quicktime rather than critical updates. Still looking, however, for QT 7.3.1. Perhaps I should ask, what version of Quicktime are other users of Xpress Pro using successfully?

Thank you. I got the link and hope to install tomorrow. Had to go to Final Cut Pro temporarily for a project. I will install and then see if it is windows updates for QT issue. I will post the results when I am done. Thanks again.

Re: Download link for Quicktime 7.3.1

Reporting back as promised. It took longer than I thought. I did download the quicktime link. The Avid program still "hangs" when initializing audio. I see others are having this problem with 5.8.2. (I am using. 5.7). So Quicktime does not seem to be the culprit. I guess I will have to start removing Windows updates. I have no recollection of the windows updates installed when Xpress pro worked (did not hang when initializing auidio). Anyone (or does Avid) have any counsel on this (which Windows updates/how far back to go?) Using Xpress Pro. Thank you.
