    Avid to Rimage workflow

Does any onne know anything about this?

our shop just recently had a Rimage Disc copier/printer installed at our facility. The vendor told us that it was able to copy projects from a remote Media Composer to DVDs Blu-ray etc. through our network cable.

We havent been able to figure out how to do this...can anyone help?

"... The vendor told us that it was able to copy projects ..."

As is often the case with sales people the explanation leaves out a lot of details... Assuming that the Rimage works the way my Primera does then once done with the project in Avid you still have to author a DVD on the software of your choice and then send the .iso disc image of that project to the Rimage system for final burning... Hope this helps...

DFI X38 T2R MB, Intel 6850 Dual Core 3.0Ghz Conroe, 4 GB RAM, Nvidia 1500, SATA Raid 5, Win XP, On board firewire plus a SIIG PCI card. [view my complete system specs]

thats exactly what we ended up doing haha... we just had to create an .iso of our finished project and sent it to the Rimage.....

PS-SG: (Postscript from a sales guy).

Assuming a 5100N or better model, you will get networked burning software (QuickDisc pc and mac DiscFlow) as well as PC label design software.

You can burn pre-made disc images or submit any files for data archiving.  You can span discs too.  Even copy the disc sitting in your machines CDROM.

RIMAGE just released a web-based client that requires nothing but a browser to manage jobs, so it is cross platform.  Free to customers on support.

There is customized software for certain NLE's too.

Marquis Broadcast Technology Integration was working on Marquis PostBox+, used to backup project files and media from and Avid or FCP bin.  Demoed at NAB but I have yet to see it.

Rimage Archiver for P2HD ($900) is shipping.  It's a drag/drop extension that automates the backup of native P2 media direct from the sticks, if you want.  Autoprints the labels.  Simple to use.

You want training?  That's extra!   :0)

With the Rimage 8.2 Producer Software Suite xou can programm a watchfolder.

The SW will look in this folder and if a ISO is found a DVD will be produced automatically with a Label you have to define if you set up the Job.

If you use the MAC SW Discflow you can generate multiple Watchfolder and program them by EVENT, TIME or other things.

On this you the disc can be produced automatically after a authoring is finished and the Video_TS or ISO is in the Watchfolder.
