I'm currently editing a feature that's shot on RED and using Metafuze to transcode to DNxHD 175. I need to bring in some B-Roll that is shot on a Canon HV40. The text on the camera screen shows it to be 24p and the camera itself says its 1080.
I can't get my Avid Media Composer 4.02 on a MacBookPro to recognize the camera to capture. In fact, it cacks and I have had to trash MC State settings to get the app to restart.
Can someone point me to a workflow for the HV40?
Thanks
jes
If it was shot 24F and you want timecode you need to capture with FCP and import the QT movies that it makes. If you don't care about timecode, turn off the timecode track and set the deck to XLH1. You might have to restart Avid a few times as well.
We did digitize into FCP - went in beautifully. The post house that will be doing the RED conform asked that I use Apple uncompressed 10 bit 4:2:2 as the codec for the FCP QT export. Again, Avid isn't accepting it. I then installed FCP express and QT Pro to see if that would help my system and my AVID to recognize it, but no luck.
Suggestions?
Check the following directory for Quicktime Components. If you don't have the right ones you can copy them from an FCP system.
