Hello all,
I do know the option "add filler at start" to add some black secs to the beginning of your video.
Now, I do want to add some black before a (different) scene and thought: I use the same option,
but with a selected shot....It will still at the filler totally at the start of the video though.
How can I easily add some black secs at a certain position in my video?
Thanks for your input!
One of my older tutorials. Many mistakes.
But maybe it will help you.
It starts with "adding black at start" then goes on to adding Fillers anywhere.

Douglas

Hi,
The reason you get 31 frames when you type in +30 is because Avid like most non-linear edit systems are based on film and the fact that every frame counts. When you type +30, you are telling Avid +30 frames in addition to the frame that the position indicator is parked on.

Thank you for adding the explanation, Steve.
As I said it was one of my older Tutorials before I knew about the reason for the extra frame. In fact I made a newer Tutorial a few weeks ago explaining the phenomenon.Regards,Douglas
Thanks for this tutorial Douglas, it helped me out!
I LOVE the add filler at start command - in fact I have it mapped to a button on top my timeline. This tutorial got me wondering if there is any way to map an "add filler anywhere" button. The method described here is good, but not nearly as easy as a single button. I don't suppose there is any way to do this? I would love to set a default time of 10 seconds, and map that somewhere.
Being able to put the cursor somewhere and immediately add 10 seconds of filler at the push of a button would be an immediate help to me, and I would image, most of the AVID using community.
I use "add filler at start" in every sequence I have to make room for slates. If you use it a lot you can map it or remember this - alt > c > f
