Hi there,
I understand that MC 3.5 should have the ability to import EX1 files (MPEG-4) natively, however on trying to import, Avid is telling me that these files are not supported.
Can anyone advise on how this needs to be done?
Many thanks!
To do it natively you have to go through AMA. You can also do it via Clip Browser MXF export, which technically is native as the files are rewrapped but not converted.

Thanks!
I finally got it sussed by looking into AMA - we thought that AMA would import all XDCAM files natively but apparently MC only imports XDCAM & XDCAM HD natively not XDCAM EX which is what we are working with and need to use Clip Browser.
Anyway, it's all sorted out so thanks for the feedback :0)
AMA doesn´t import, AMA links, and EX1 folders links very well using AMA, just read the manual
Tomas
give us the iso files back in Avid Dvd please, no gi files for me
Tomas is definitely correct on this one - I am an EX1 user and use AMA all the time. Just make sure that you have MC3.54 or later. You just put the file online (card or hard disk) and off you go. Works like a charm.

And I spent all of thtis time converting EX 1 MPEG 4 files to MXF and then importing them, didn't think of using AMA.
