    New error in 4.0.2

    While trying to digitize from generic DV source over 1394,

    "Pyromaniac::ArmVideoConfidence - send message failed"

    and then it bails, performance becomes unusably sluggish.

    Seems to do the trick. Glad we have the KB (and folks like you maintaining it :) Should have searched there.

    mmullen:
    Very interesting.

    I have ALWAYS turned the Adrenaline on first let it go completely through its startup and then turned the CPU on. This was the advice originally from my long time Avid supplier. A couple of years back I noticed a post by one of the regular Avid employees (posted in DS forum I think) suggesting starting the CPU first.

    I asked him a direct question and he confirmed starting the CPU first for DS(?) was correct but I should always start the Adrenaline first for MCA.  As the Adrenaline first practice has always worked here I have not questioned this. Reading that KB should I??

    Thanks for the continued dongle support

    With the adrenaline being Firewire before or after booting the CPU should not be an issue.

    From memory the Avid person was suggesting something about better memory allocation to the Adrenaline if the Adrenaline was started first.

    Thanks for the continued dongle support

    Re: New error in 4.0.2

    Regardless of whether the adrenaline is attached before or after boot up it's going to use the full 400 MB/s of Bandwidth....That is as long as there are no other devices connected on the same PCI segment.

    So basically it really shouldn't matter one way or the other.
