Thank you very much!
Same problem here with MC 4.0.2 Avid Pan & Zoom. After some changes it renders just black or apparently using a low-resolution proxy.
The problem was fixed by copying the Avid Pan & Zoom AVX plug-in from 3.1.3.
Thanks everyone for checking this out, and BLKDOG of sendinh it up!

Really? Cool, have to dig up an older version. Again, thanks for posting the workaround.

Thanks Niko. To fix the recent Pan and Zoom performance issue, I pulled the Avid Pan and zoom plugin from MC 3.5. It works – a clear improvement in performance and quality over the more recent filter in MC 4.0.2, MC 3.5.9 etc. The MC 3.5.9 and MC 4 filters are dated 9/17/2009. The working MC 3.5 filter is dated 2/21/2009. These dates are in the windows “Date modified” column.

can anyone upload P&Z plugin i dont want to reinstall all of my systems at work from MC3.5
If this problem can be resolved by simply copying the AVX from 3.5 to our 4.0.2 installation then why can't Avid make this solution available ASAP?
Steve
I did a bit more playing with this issue. It seems that when these black clips occur, if I removed rendering they stay black but if I close and reopen the project they are restored. I haven't created an overly complex timeline but in a pinch I could probably get this working.
The next thing I'd like to try is to layer some additional effects on the P&Z and see if there is any way to recover... (by removing previous renders and closing/reopening the project)...
Cheers
For me basically it goes like this:
You have any unrendered pan and zoom effects that were once rendered, they will only render the draft resolution like we are describing here. The only way I can get it to work it to drag a new P&Z effect on, redu the effect and once I render it, that's it, if I need to change it, it will never rerender full rez again and I have to re-drag the effect on and start over.
pretty annoying, but on the other hand, I am daringly running this with Snow Leopard, so it could be that.

My sentiments EXACTLY! I encountered this problem when we upgraded 3 of our 4 Avids to 4.0.2 a couple of weeks ago. I posted my problem on this board as well as the Yahoo Avid L2, and was advised to try to swap a Pan & Zoom plug in from 3.5.9. How do I do this? Can I download this version and just open it up & "pluck out" the Pan and Zoom AVX effect?
It would be great if Avid would issue a patch or some other fix for this problem immediately.
Rick
I personally installed MC 3.5 on another computer and copied the plug-in from there.
I don't think it's legal to post parts of Avid software here, but if you want I can send this plug-in privately to you by e-mail. It is about 500 KB if I remember correctly.

Or Avid could just stick it on the Download site.
Amen luca.mg! I ALWAYS render everything as I go along (usually in to out) and have had no problems whatsoever with the final results. Yes, it takes time but the results are well earned for that time. While I'm not under "deadline pressure," I sympathize with those who are as immediate renders can add up to a huge amount of time. One could easily not get their job done on time. The only answer to this might be having the most superior hardware and fine-tuned edit system as you can get your hands on. Good luck!
