Importing a Quicktime into the Nitris

We're trying to go green and accept commercials in a QuickTime format instead of using dub tapes.

My problem is when I import QT movies into my Symphony Nitris, sometimes the spot gets "streaks" through the video on fast-moving scenes and graphics.

I've tried importing the movie in all three different File Field Orders (Non-interlaced/Odd/Even) but to no avail.

Is there ANY WAY I can import these QuickTime Movies and have them not "streak" upon playback?

    HELP!

    Thanks,

    Part time Player

Are these QT files 720x486 or 720x480? I have had issues like this when I import 720x480 at a 720x486 resolution. This is due to the 6 line difference in the video formats. If they are indeed 720x480, you need to import at DV25.

    Hi,

In addition to outpostbc's questions, are you seeing the streaking on the computer monitor or the video monitor or both?

    good luck,

And what codec is the supplied QT?

These files are supposed to be 720 x 486.

And yes...the streaking occurs on both TV and computer monitors.

    The Compression Type is H.264.

    Does any of this help?

There is a point where it asks if I want to import using the resolution of the clip or the resolution set up in the Avid.

Also...does it make a difference if I'm importing a file onto the E drive instead of a media drive like drives M or N?

Re: Importing a Quicktime into the Nitris

Compression is your problem, so, no - nothing to do with where the media resides.

H264 is not an uncompressed format. And frame size is no reflection of quality.

Back to the QT provider - this has nothing to do with being "green".

Re: Importing a Quicktime into the Nitris

Yes we are having to accept a wide variety of files from way too wide a range of folks....as to the streaking...maybe h264 artifacts and maybe not...try this just for fun...open the QT in quicktime pro and export as a qt avid meridian compressed codec.....some how when I get weird files if I resave them as a different codec within quicktime and import to avid I get a better result...makes no sense but it works (sometimes) luck
